First of all, there is plenty of info on the subjet if you search. Soundclips are also available.

Now for my helpfull answer:

None of them really make power unless you remove the Catalytic converter. If you are going for sound you need to listen to other vehicles because its all personal preference.

IMHO, and keep in mind I have ran 2 aftermarket kits and several different midpipes. The best bang for your buck, is to simply install a aftermarket midpipe wthout a cat or a highflow cat. For looks, have an exhaust shop intall some pretty exhaust tips and your set. Improved power, less weight and cheap.

Midpipes range in price but if you have the quiet stock exhaust, you can install almost any of them without the car being too loud.

dont wanna be mean but gotta agree with coldf1ame ...i start to love my stock....my exoticspeed is just TOO loud...cant even talk to my girl in the car without yelling

but gotta admit, car response better with aftermarket exhaust....slightly...

i just purchase a exoticspeed r1t from a member of the forum...other reviews are racing beat and mazdaspeed exhaust...both good reviews from buddies who owned them

The question that hasn't been asked or answered is, what are you going to do with the car? Are you going to the track. Are you going to tune the ecu? What are you going to replace? The muffler with a catback? The converter with a midpipe?

ATM, I have the Corksport catback on my car. It's about halve the weight of the stock mufflers. It's a little be freer than stock but not so loud that I can't take long (1K mile) trips.

I owned the MazdaSpeed but found it a little loud but nice. It did have a drone at highway speeds which killed it for me. I went to the race beat and still own it. It was a little quite at first but after a few years has set up a nice tone with out being two loud. Looks much better then stock. As for
HP improvement...none.

Here is an extensive write up I did on both complete with comparison picture:

They might have redesigned the MS dual can since I owned it. I bought mine about 6 years ago and its drone was very apparent and annoying. It was also louder then stock at idle. The Race Beat sounds like stock at idle. Read the review for more details. When you opened it up to 7 or 9K rpm the MS was howling.
