What's the chance of this happening to the RX8

Borrow the 2.3litre turbo engine from the MS6. I test drove the MS6. Good torque and good power. Easily upgradable and could be made quicker with little money.

Applying AWD to the RX8 would be nice, but I think RWD is good.

I'm thinking about buying one, but I want something with good low end torque. I had a modified RSX and I hated having to rev pass 4k to move.

raptor is right on this one. the rx series has always had a rotary engine and its gonna stay that way. i've seen people who have swapped out motors but that's the only way it will ever happen to the 8, if you do it yourself.

I want a fun car. The MS6 has good power/torque, but too plain. And I want to be able to have fun on the weekend. MS6 is straight up family ride.

Motor swap would cost more $, which makes no sense.

exactly, and like i said, that's the ONLY way it will ever happen. and are you implying the rx8 is not a fun car? it has its downfalls but i'd take it any day over any car.

I mean, the RX8 is a fun car, just a little slow off the line. I don't know how fast it is on high end, since I dont' have one.

350Z is too much and I need practicality of the rear seats.

Don't you all wish it has MORE LOW END TORQUE? I mean, the 2.3litre turbo from MS6 should fit fine in the current RX8's engine compartment. And it's tuner friendly. It's easier to extract more power out of a turbo engine than all-motor engine.

It's not all that tuner friendly, Mazda can't even tune it right Yes it will take better to mods than the Renesis, but if you're really looking for a better engine than the Renesis the MS6 engine isn't it, it might be some day but right now it's having some issues. I can't think of a single FI 4 cylinder in the US market that I wouldn't pick over the 2.3L turbo from the MS6.

the 8 isn't very good in a straight line but it makes up for it in other areas.

it would be nice to have a lil more low end torque but all we're doing here is wishful thinking with the engine swap.

This mod would be a waste of time. We already have reports of the MS6 engine turning off the boost due to heat issues - and just in normal spirited driving.

What's wrong with ~$5,000 for a greddy kit, interceptor-x + install?

The MS6 may have more torque when it's on the boost, but what you're asking for is basically asking for an install of a completely different engine that will give you slightly better numbers. With a turbo on the 8, the MS6 will be eating dust.

THis is due to the top mount intercooler as there's little airflow under the hood without a hood scoop. A front mount would cure these issues and add more power on top.

wtf......If that's not tuned then what is? Sure it runs methanol but it's also 1000hp. The point is, it's an mzr 2.3 that comes in the ms6 with a gerret turbo and motec ecu. It's far from unmoddable.

but i said in parenthesis "street tuned"... with enough TLC and money, many engines can do that -_-
i'm sure it's quite a bit more then just slapping on a turbo and getting a tune...

Do you know anything about modding a car or are you the type that buys parts and pays someone to install them? Sure, it's not easiest car to mod but it's not as hard as you make it out to be. Especially with the ms6.

Is it also true that rotoray motor is hard and expensive to fix?

haha, i don't think you're getting my one and only point: This is definetely not the best example you can give in response to Ike's comment (not even saying you can't find an example)
I'm not saying the ms6 isn't moddable nor am I saying this 200 mph mazda is not "tuned". I'm saying this 1000 hp mazda 6 is tuned beyond the limits of an ordinary street tuner like most people on this board (hence my comment in parenthesis regarding "street tuned"). That's all. no need to take any offence and go on the offensive about it.
