whats the highest BHP on your RX-8? 250+ ????
I have had my car for 6 months and its still stock.
Have been doing a lot of reading...
I wanna know what kind of toys you guys bought for your 8.
So who has the most BHP on their 8?
And what did you do to get this?
I have a 2004 192 spec RX-8.
A guy I met at a jap car show told me I can push my BHP to 250???
Just with a new cold air intake, new exhaust system and a remap =$ ??
Now as a NEWBIE, I have no idea what to get and what brands to buy =(
Please, any help would be great =)
Also, my car is at 48,000 miles, what is the average engine rebuild?
When will it blow up =(
Like I said, I AM A NEWBIE, when i bought this car, i had a choice, this or an Audi TT, i fell in love with the 8.

No offense intended but....

You know how I know? Because of the rest of your post:
Probably the 3rd most asked question. Well, not really. No one asks about BHP, just WHP (Wheel Horsepower).
In short though, you are in over your head if you don't know the basics. From the factory, the 8 is VERY well tuned (mechanically). There are only 2 things you can do for easy power:
- AccessPORT custom tune to remove some of the "safe" parts of the tune (unavailable as of 3 days ago unless you find one used)
- Removing the naturally restrictive catalytic converter.
Doing the rest (intake, exhaust, pulleys, etc...) nets you MAYBE 5hp. MAYBE. Depending on the brand, alot of them are inferior to the OEM stock system, and plenty cause you to lose power.
If you want power, you have to go forced induction, turbo or supercharger. And you need a starting amount of about $8,000 to $10,000 for a complete set up. And if you dont have an AccessPORT, you have very little chance in making it work.
If you don't go that route, then the most you can expect is about 200 whp without a customer engine rebuild. Spend $30k+ like race teams do, and you can get to about 220whp.
This isn't a power car.

Can he even get to 200whp with na add-ons since it's a 192 (4 port)?
Start looking at the stickies on this site and doing a lot of reading. Take a closer look at what RIWWP posted and start saving some coin.

I meant that your line about "I've been doing alot of reading" was a plain lie.
I'll tone it down a bit, by acknowledging that you might not know what reading is. Some people this this single post is alot of reading.
But it takes less than ~30 minutes with even a casual look through the after market performance subforum, or the major horsepower upgrades subforum, and it would be pretty obvious that there isn't much you can do. Take a couple hours, and you be near an expert.
I agree, you are a newbie, but I disagree that you did "alot of reading".

The stock rx8 mt is 232 bhp but to the wheels its normally 185. say you get 200whp that will be close to 250bhp.
Now if you have auto 04-05 its 192 so roughly 160whp add in 4k worth of mods you will be lucky if you hit 180whp, which in return will hit 212bhp.

We have been getting a lot of repeating posts lately so people tend to get a little put off when the same question is asked over and over. Don't take it too personally.
I would look through all of the stickies you can find. They're at the top of each section and marked as such. Spend some time in these two threads as well.

Is your 192 a manual car? We only have the 192 (4 port here) as an automatic, but this forum may be of help.
