Just to cool things down abit. You are going to need it.

Easy on the non-searchers->https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/ease-up-nonsearchers-78303/

and for you

Searching DIY->https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-how-use-search-function-rx8club-com-forum-73846/

Btw Curb weight is 3060lbs and max speed (found on many threads here) is about 155. Do it on a track.

Dear Noob,

You're member 22,330. There have been nearly seventy thousand threads containing over one million posts since this forum started. Odds are, you aren't going to think of anything new.

hehehe...ouch no love for the new guy/girl

but yea do a search....there is a vid floating aroudn where the rx-8 goes 186 mph in 6th gear.......granted that was on a dyno and not on the road...i'd say she'd be aerodynamicly limited...with 238 bhp not being enough to over come wind friction and drag. no idea what teh top speed is.......no ones gone to teh salt flats in their 8 that i'm aware of

p.s. welcome to the cult

So, do yourself a favor and spend a lot (!) of time searching before posting anything. Otherwise, these guys will pounce. It's kind of what they live for. The search function really will provide most of the answers... most of the questions seem to have been asked/answered at some point.

And welcome... really.

155mph?

Holy crap, you need at least 10 miles of flat road to reach that speed in this car lol.

Welcome dude.

No, only about a mile and a quarter, mile and a half. 140 is easy. 150 takes more time. There are reports of 155 here. I would accept that, maybe a little less. I think a major auto mag had this number also. I wouldn't believe anything more, i.e., there are some threads hear stating 165. That is a little outragious.

Oh - and the weight of the car doesn't matter to the car's top speed. My car with 238hp and 4000lbs would have the same top speed as another rx8 with 238hp and 3000lbs.

Wow. Um. I didn't know my simple question would garner such a plethora of responses

I am an RX-8 fan, but I am really looking forward to a later 2006 2007 model that will boost the HP to closer to 300. I mean, if the Lan Evos and Imprezas got them, why doesn't Mazda just add another Rotary or something?

I am also looking forward to a relaunch of the RX-7 .

I meant horse power... if the RX8 added another Rotary (to 3) wouldn't it catch up in HP?

It's called a 'rotor'...As in 3-rotor. Yeah...Mazda could very well do that... Course, 300 MAZDA HP = about 260 REAL HP.

:D

Yup but it would be tough to get past emissions.

I've seen a 3 rotor running, mind you it was not completely tuned it was quite apparent that it would not pass emissions in most states.

The GT Class of the Rolex Series allows the three rotor 20B engine. I haven't seen one run in that class though.

weight doesnt affect top speed, its power, gearing and drag.

That said : I had the car (100% stock) to about 156 (indicated by the speedo) not sure about the actual ground speed, I would say around 150ish.

The car gets up to 140 pretty quick, and in a short distance. Id say about 1 mile (from launch to 140) going from 140 to 150 takes about another 1/2-3/4 miles (although at the speed your going it passes pretty fast). After 150 its like pulling teeth.

I notice after the mazdaspeed kit, that the car will only run out to about 146, then it just sits there. I guess the kit is doing something, I like to think that extra drag is turning into downforce, but it may just be more drag.

Also, all top speed (on the road, not the dyno) will happen in 5th gear, its 1:1 ratio (or close) and you have the best TQ factor with the gearing, 6th is over drive and your not getting as much power out of it, so it will be slower.
