WHATS MY ENGINE WORTH? 2004 4-port
I have a 2004 AT Rx8, might be pulling the engine and transmission and putting it up for sale. 49k miles fully dressed engine with PCM and transmission with tcu, and with starter and all. (minus ac compressor)
No transmission problems, shifts fine. engine has no problem with hot or cold starts. havent gotten compression check... (list of to do's)

Yeah, about that.
It's value would go up to maybe $750 if you had a compression test that confirmed good scores, drop to ~$250 or less if the compression test was failing or close to failing.
4-port ATs just aren't as common and are the inferior engine, although plenty of the 4-port ATs go through engines.

swap is not worth it, even if u can do all labor urself.
if u are doing it for the "I can do it" factor then it doesn't matter how much it cost, right ?
and u have to swap pretty much EVERYTHING from the MT car to the AT car. sounds easy but it's going to take quite a while, assume u know where everything goes and 1 person doing the swap(you) and u have quick hands, it probably takes a week or 2.
but if you're doing it cuz you think the 4sp AT is slow (sadly, it is fuxking slow), then u might as well sell it and get a 6 sp MT. saves u a lot of time and money.
