What's with people these days?

What's with people these days?
So I have a tendency to try and find a "strategic" parking spot, as to keep one side of my 8 up against a curb, so only 1 car can park next to me.
So last week sometime, I am guessing up at CSUF, since my fellow students are ******** and don't give a **** about other people's stuff, someone scraped the right side of my car. Looks like they opened their door too far, and the edge of their door scraped up against my 8. That or as they pulled in or out their bumper rubbed my 8 the wrong way
Luckily it's not too bad, the residue comes right off, but now there is a small dent on the suicide door right where the door has that edge before the metal curves slightly. To clarify that curve is horizontal, running from the front to the back. So the dent is really really visible.
And of course... no information was left.
Now I have 2 dents to go get fixed, on top of 3 or 4 paint chips that I need to buy some touch up paint for and I haven't even had the car for 2 months.... ugh.
Too make matters worse, I used to drive a 2001 **** stain (mustang, not gt), and never got 1 dent or ding or paint chip.

Dude, I have the EXACT same problem! I've only had mine about 2 months. When I got it I had hail damage 2 small dents on the hood, 1 dent on the roof, and 1 on the trunk. THAT'S IT. Since I've owned it, I've gotten a door ding on both front doors, 1 on the passenger rear door, 1 on the passenger front fender, and someone backed into the passenger headlight. And I'm just as picky about where I park as you. The 2nd day I had this car I went and got an estimate to fix the hail damage = $500. I was planning to have that done in the spring but now I'm wondering what's the point. My last ride was a '04 Dodge Ram and I never even got a door ding in that big *** truck!! I hate people!!!

Well, I have conflicting feelings... I am glad I am not the only one who is having this problem, but at the same time, I wish it was just me... poor 8's getting banged up by people who don't know how to drive or open their doors.
So far, I don't have any dings on my driver's side door (1 dent on the front left wheel well), but my passenger side is like danger zone or something. Paint chip on the handle (no idea how someone managed that), that new dent, and this weird looking scrape (might buff out).
Haven't got a quote on the dent pulling yet, but going to the same place that my parents spent 3k+ fixing the mustang after my brother went over a mid divider and slammed into the front of a Yukon. Dumbass... haha! Who knows, maybe they will give me a good deal
Hope things get better! I would pay extra for my semester parking spot if I was guaranteed a spot that had large dividers on both sides of the car... that would be awesome!
Or a forcefield of some sort? haha.
Oh, and this is why I don't buy new cars... I would probably chase the mother f***er to end of the earth if this was a brand new 8...

I'm getting my car repainted. And from now on its gonna be parked way in the back of any parking lot especially the market places like walmart... where ******** use the rolling carts without any care. Also when I go to college I'm gonna be parking my 8 wayyyyy in the BACK! where no1 else does park. Hope your car gets fixed dude. Peace.

Stop making me **** my pants, I have to drive the 8 to my campus for next semester.
Back in September, I parked my 8 by the dorms and came out two hours after to find spit all over the front of the car. They also decided to put a huge nail into one of my tires. They left a huge gash on the same wheel with a pipe or some other hard object, had to have the wheel refinished. Good thing they didn't mess with the body.

It's hail my friend . Had the same problem right after a big hail storm . Take it to one of those dent doctor places they take care of that with no problem and not that expensive .

one more step past just parking next to a curb is to pull in forward with a curb on your passenger side. So, assuming that the next car to park next to you also pulls in face forward, and they are riding solo (like most people do) then there will be no doors opening towards your car.

How I have avoided door dings... I have no clue.

This reminds me of a parking story I heard years ago, that my former boss told me. He had a friend with a brand new Corvette, and he was always careful were he parked, tyring to pick places where no one would park next to him. Well, one day he went to a shopping mall, and found a really remote place in the parking far away from the buiding, with no cars parked near him for 100 yards. When he came out, there was one car that had come after his and parked right next to him - even though there were hundreds of other available spaces nearby! And would you believe - there was a deep ding in the door of the Corvette where the other person had flung the driver's door open into his car! The Corvette owner became so incensed that he literally jumped on the hood of the other car and stomped the crap out of it!

^ damn bro that sucks!!! it costed a pretty penny. People do hate us driving a magnificent car that they dream in their wildest dreams to own. Due to their Jealousy/envy this what they do.

it sucks, but people are inconsiderate... oftentimes, they are in a rush, and all they care about is moving as quickly as possible, even if it means accidentally hitting someone's car. it's unfortunate that they usually drive POS's and don't understand what it's like to have a clean car - and figure 'meh, it's just a car'
bastards.

Ususally i just park regularly, wherever i can find a spot, and so far, no dents are chips. I've had my 8 for a few months now. The only thing that has happened is some dirtball spit on my car. At first i didnt even know what it was. It covered like half the windshield, some of the hood, some of the fender. I thought a fleet of seagulls had **** attacked my car, but after further investigation, it was obvious that someone was driving by, or riding on a bike, and launched the most massive lugie ever. Gross...

I learned long time ago that the more you are **** about where you park the higher the chance your car will get hurt. Used to be real antsy where I park with my first car that I bought. Within 2 months, door dings start to show up. Then as I upgraded to various cars, I start not to bother and so far nothing ever happened.

Well, I started out parking literally at the back of campus when I first got my car. But after a few days of walking that far, I started picking closer spots. That's when I got the dings etc.
Here is where I usually park:
The car on the left is almost always there, and his spot is huge as well. Are spots are so big that we could each fully open our doors and they would still be at least a foot in between.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and keep parking there.
Today I parked in a parking structure with my right side up against a large beam. People can still park to the right, but they are further away and can't hit me with their car.
I took a look at the dent again, and I am pretty sure that someone backed out or in to the spot and scraped my car with their bumper. Which is probably the best cases scenario, since the plastic rubbed onto my car instead of my paint transferring to their car.
There is also the fact that I have seen at least 1, and I am pretty sure 2 of my exact car. Hopefully they are loveable people as well, so that no one mistakes my car for theirs.
Btw, anyone here know how I can get a teacher's parking pass for CSUF? I would pay more than the cost of the Student pass if I could get one of these!
