You didn't give your location or even reference if you have left-hand drive or right-hand-drive. There are some key differences; for instance, some non-US models have a passenger airbag off indicator light where the US-spec RX-8s have an unobtrusive plug. Depending on your location the US, UK or Aussie folks might not have the same button (if it is factory).
You didn't say if you bought new or used. If it is used then it is possible the previous owner installed something (my last 3 used cars all had odd, non-factory stuff installed). Any chance you can ask the place where you purchased the car?
You didn't post a picture, even after lots of folks replied with "dunno" answers. I'm sure that (plus your saying 'I really dont know much about my new 8') is the main reason you get many silly replies which are not helpful.
So,
Specs on the car (year, trim/package, lhd/rhd)?
Bought new or used?
Location?
Picture of button (see Glyphon's example)?
Btw, welcome to the forum!

More seriously (somewhat): what on Earth was going on in France in the 1420's that you picked that time/place?

Getting to the 1420's is the easy part. All you have to do is go far forward enough and you'll loop back through (you can only travel one way through time, if you miss your hour/day/year you have to go around again).
Anyway, it's not the moving in time part that is hard. It's getting the landing right. You just don't want to step on one of your ancestors...

The car is two years old, I prolly would have asked the previous owner or the saleman. It's prolly not OEM so now your left with the question. It was prolly to the previous owners Nitrous system, the Arm switch. Means you prolly have about 50 miles worth of life left in the car so you better enjoy them.
Otherwise, On Hayabusa.org we call it....
RYFOM.
It's in the Glovebox most likely, in a nice little Zippered folder.

My car "The Yellow Batmobile" (in the words of my kids) has an all-purpose switch there, that depending on the episode I'm in will either:
1) Summon Alfred to pour me another Martini while I ponder things and say "Excellent Question, Robin"
2) Activate the hands free Bat Phone to chat with Commissioner Gordon
3) Fire the booster rockets to launch the car over that pesky bridge that's always out.

It is an after-market switch that gives the hampster a shock to run faster and boost top end speed. jActually, it must be something that a previous owner added, I am not aware of any switch being located where you describe. I assume you are not referring to the trunk release button which is way below the dsc on that side.

since the OP seems to have disappeared, i'd guess if it is an aftermarket switch it is for 1) neon 2)NO2 3)sub
for the other markets that have headlight washers, how is that switch setup? and do any markets have passenger side airbag disable? If so, how are those setup?
