Yes, they should. But they haven't yet. I am headed into town anyway, so helping him out until they do.

Alright, Geico finally seems to be getting their act together. I've been working with a very helpful person there today, they are sending out a special towing place that brings tires that fit the car so they can get it off the rocks and take it to a repair facility to get evaluated for coverage. Once the tires/wheels are replaced and it's evaluated for body damage the car will go to Mazda for body repair. Hopefully it will be on it's way to the shop within the hour. More news as I get it.

Hah, he doesn't have a choice! He was the best man in my wedding. :P I compel him with the power of 28 years of blackmail.

Heh. Yeah, it wasn't a random offer.

But that doesn't mean my heart wasn't bleeding from seeing his Shinka sitting on rocks, and pained from knowing that we will not be able to go cruising the curves in our 8s this weekend as intended.

Ironically/depressingly my Tein S. Tech springs arrived today. It's going to be a bit before they go in I guess.

Yeah, I've got big plans for my baby, but its all going to have to wait until the body work gets done and the wheels/tires are replaced. I was told it "won't be done in a few days" so I'm looking at a couple of weeks at least would be my guess to have everything fixed. Then the next thing to go in is the Tein S. Tech's and a checkup with Mazda for the catalytic converter. Right after that an RP supercat goes in. Probably going to set up a local get together/install day for that and if anybody else has some pieces they want to put in their 8s.

Once all of that is in, the turbo kit, boost controller etc all goes in. I should be good to leave the car for a bit after that before I start looking at a body kit, coilovers, and water/meth injection.

(Sorry...too tempting)

Man, it seems like yesterday when I got the call at the airport "Yeah, you'll never guess what I just bought... an RX-8. They say it's black, but it has this weird purple color. I don't know."

Followed not long after by... "Dude. It has a TONE!" (shift)

Hehe. Yeah, he has moved right along.

(Sorry, man, I had to )

Got the damage estimate today... $3500.00 in parts, paint, and labor including the wheels/tires. They said it will be ready by the end of next week and insurance pays for everything except $500.00 for the deductable.

So are they buying you OEM wheels and tires, or are they giving you the money to replace them?

They are replacing the exact model of rims I had stolen as well as the tires. Then they are doing the body work to repair the damage to the sides. Hopefully the car will be in identical shape to before the incident, I will just be short $500.00. Considering the cost of the damages though, that is a small price to pay. After I get the car back next week it goes in installation of the lowering springs and inspection of the stock catalytic converter. The week after that the supercat goes in and it gets an evaluation at JE Imports for gauge/turbo install.

It's true! The OEM rims are expensive as hell. In fact if they weren't so expensive I doubt the company would have agreed to pay for what was taken at all. They gave me a runaround for a couple days about "unanounced modifications to the vehicle" until I pointed out that I would happily take the cash for the OEM rims and tires along with the repairs for the body damage. Hell I would have ended up being paid for having my wheels stolen.

I talked to the insurance department today about the aftermarket modifications I have on the car otherwise and they are all now covered. Everything including my AccessPORT haha.

False. Access Port is covered under the "Additional Equipment" section of the policy declaration.

Good to know you're being taken care of. You aren't going to be parking your car in the same place once everything is repaired/replaced are you?

Glad it's working out and you only have to pay deductible. Damn, it's gonna be hard to sleep at night though, isn't it? Guess there's no neighborhood watch or anything where you live?

Yup, the OEM '05 Shinka rims are quite expensive.

Glad it all worked out for you (unfortunately less $500 of course).
