Question When Do RX=8's Arrive ???

Hi All,

I've heard several different dates for the arrival of the RX-8. Does anyone know when the cars will actually start showing up on U.S. roads?

Thanks,

BigW

Probably June. I doubt May and I seriously doubt April. The US spec car doesn't even go into production until April. It's definitely going to take more than a month for the car to be built, shipped and arrive at dealerships. I'm actually expecting July, but still hoping for June.... :D

I'm also hearing the first week of April from my dealer. He says he got something from Mazda telling them to expect the first shipment then. I seriously doubt that it will be there next month but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think your dealer is confused. What I believe he can expect sometime in April is one vehicle to be used as a static showroom display.

Static?! He better let me test drive it if he gets one in.

I've seen info in several places that US models start production this month (March)... European models start in April.

Talked to my dealer today... he also made a little comment he's heard they'll be in next month (April), but still only officially said June. I'm hopin' for April, but my guess is they'll be here by at least May. I, too, think the quote of a June delivery date is to cover themselves.

The first vehicles will be sold in Japan, with production bound for North America and Europe to commence in mid-March and mid-April respectively, while Australian-bound cars begin to roll off the production line during early May.

My last response from Mazda said June the earliest. My dealer (today) said last word was late June but probably not until the first week in July.

Oh that will sooooo suck if my car gets here in June vice July when I was expecting it. I won't be able to pick it up until mid-July ("business trip" of sorts) so It will end up sitting on their remote lot for like a month! AHHHHH!!! my poor car!!!! it'll feel so neglected!

My dealer has also told me April. In fact, he said that he has 9 coming in April and he said he will have a FIRM delivery date from MazdaNA in a couple of weeks!! Here's hoping...

Thank you Captain Obvious!! J/K. I know but what he was saying was, for example: On April 3 he will get confirmation from Mazda that the cars will be delivered on say, the 27th. Get it?

"Please note that the April, May or even June delivery estimation that this dealership has given you may have been from early estimates. It is more likely that the first allocations will begin delivery by July or later.

I hope that this information helps, and thank you for being a part of the RX-8 pre-order program.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to assist you. If for any reason this response has not completely
satisfied you, please feel free to reply to this message. You may also contact our Customer Assistance Center toll-free at 1-800-222-5500."

This is what mazdaNA told me when I had e-mailed them about my order confirmation number and expected delivery date on February 27 - my dealer said end of April beginning of May he would get some cars in, but not in the specs that I wanted. And that my pre-order should be arriving in June.

I'm still crushed.

July for the first allocation? That means August for the second allocation (I'm in the second batch)

My dealer said July for the second allocation at the latest and he was expecting them in June.

Pretty soon they are going to have to start calling it the 2005 RX-8.

The actual answer is:

No, nobody knows. We all have a belief when to expect them which varies widely as we've heard different things from different sources. I'm pretty sure before the end of November of 2003.

You boys will be June as your allocation is after ours.

Our start being built on the 10th of May. + Boat time to get here from Japan :D

Hope this helps

NAV

Do not forget that if you ordered NAV, you will not be in the first deliveries (or at least that is what was communicated at the Detroit auto show.)

I orded NAV, so I hope this is not true...

ummm, if our cars aren't being built until june, that means the earliest for first batch is august... I don't think that can be correct.
please don't let it be correct.
