I guess we can all agree on the ignorance of this post.

Gas is gonna be high for ALL affordable performance cars. How exactly can you make a sports car 'gas-saving' without losing performance? And...we're not buying new cars just yet.

The war in Iraq is not the biggest reason for the gas prices, if you have been watching the news lately.

Cmon man. The rotary engine isn't known for their gas saving features. If you don't know that... do you REALLY want the RX-8?

Rotary Engine = Gas Saving? Not....

When you buy a Rotary, you are going to be forking over the gas money... and plenty of it.

There is no way around it. There will never be an affordable gas saving RX-8.

Come on... give the noob a break :D

As for accepting our poor mpg.... I bought my 8 given the info that we're suppose to be getting about
18 to 25 mpg... not the 11 to 14 I'm getting..

Good question "maqfancar" and welcome to rx8club...

Rotaries are certainly not known for their great gas mileage, although I have been averaging 22 to 25 here as of late. But, the new z06 corvette is projected to get 26 mpg on the highway. But its gear ratio in 6th is .5

Being a noob is not much of an excuse...everyone understands you can't have a 'gas-saving' sports car, unless it's one of those hydrogen powered ones that cost $100,000 (don't ask, I saw it somewhere on tv). And, I don't like Bush, but blaming him for the gas prices is out of question and uncalled for.

Here ya go, sport. I think this is what you're after.

Just leave the RX-8 to those of us that can afford it.

And I dont know why people say if it goes over $3.00 a gallon thats too high..(like people wont buy gas) I think that if it went to 3.50 gallon or higher people are still going to buy gas because every one has a car.... DUH and the OIL comapnys know this. thats why it keeps going up! sorry to be off topic... but gas prices **** me off and I feel like driving my RX-8 right through the show room windows and saying theres you Fu(&ing 18/24 MPH *MY **** maybe driving on the highway ill get 18 but 13MPG from a freeking 1.3L I know 6.0L that get better than the 1.3L.

Sorry VENTING

i get around 18 or 19 mpg and i say i drive pretty hard in my car... redline it every time i get a chance to "clean out my engine". i dont baby the car and the gas pedal but i dont drive it like i stole it. i guess everyones cars or driving habits are different?

and i doubt that hydrogen rx8 will ever hit our shores sorry... it would be cool though

They already have one. It's been out for at least 3 years. It's the Hydrogen version of an RX 8.

Go to Seven Stock and you will see it.

You won't be able to buy one until there are enough Hydrogen stations.

I think some of you people are from another planet. You buy an RX-8 and THEN worry about the gas mileage? Sheesh. I take it as a point of pride that I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MILEAGE I'M GETTING. Whatever it is, it is. If you have to worry about that, you bought the wrong car.

~worried about my mpg....?
...even though I bought it thinking I'd get 18 to 25 mpg,
I'm mostly P/O'd and concerned that my engine is malfunctioning considering most of you are getting 20 +/- mpg.
I guess the HP issue doesn't bother you either since you have a "point of pride"...

Good point. I knew this when I first bought my Mustang in 2002 and I get about the same (sometimes) better gas mileage from the RX8 (with way more much fun)!!!

Think of it this way, if you had an SUV, you would average 15/19 MPH (city/highway) or LESS. I have a bud who got an Avalanche, he is basically GROUNDED. He gets 11/17 (city highway). I have never gotten below 17 in the city and now have been able to get 22 city if you drive like grandma. Drive like grandma for your daily commute, and then enjoy your RX8 with good spirited sports driving on the weekends. (For me this is a big deal with a 50 mile round trip commute).

If gas gets to 6 per gallon, you will see me own a moped or by then I will have my motorcylce. Taking classes starting next week.

Why are people responding to the OP? It's obvious he is an inflammatory troll...

THIS IS A CAR FORUM JACKASS, SHOVE THE POLITICS SOMEPLACE ELSE!

It's all GwB's fault that we don't have that 200mpg carbueretor.. or electric cars that magically create their own energy not from stinky coal or nuke plants.. or hydrogen cars that you just put water in the tank instead of compressed hydrogen "bombs."

What kind of fantasy world do you live in?

I too am kinda disappointed w/ my 11-15 mpg range. My wife's SUV w/ a 4.7L gets 15 city/19-22 highway. I can only muster 15mpg highway if I baby it like everyone is talking about. But, I STILL think it's worth it. I've just decided if I'm going to get crappy mileage, I might as well have fun doing it. :D
