When you guys see another 8 on the road...

What do you do? I surprisingly see a lot of 8s in new orleans and I always honk and try to wave at them but they usually don't seem as excited as I do.

I always try to compare my 8 with theirs too but I feel like no one here does any mods with their 8 because since mine is so unique with everything that I have done to it, I don't know if I have ever seen any 8 that does not look stock other than some rims on some.

I raced another 8 before and luckily the extra hp my 09 model has led me to victory. Other than that I don't feel like anyone here appreciates their RX-8 here.

anyone else feel that way?

I see that you're not familiar with the 'I SAW YOU' or 'SPOTTED YOU' threads in the regional forums...

...i also see that you're not familiar with the policies regarding 'street racing'

I am, I just don't ever find people on those threads that I actually have seen

and the race was on empty property that my parents own. Not on the actual street...

usually I just wave at them and they smile or wave back. Sometimes if they have some noticeable mod then I look at their car a little bit more. There aren't too many RX8s around Minnesota though, or at least that I have seen.

In the couple times I've come across another 8 on the road I've pulled up next to them and given them the brotherly (or occasionally sisterly) nod. Every time I've gotten one in return, we got a good community here!

I wave, but they rarely wave back. There are a lot around here too.

I look stupid every time I try to acknowledge the existence of another RX8. The only person driving an RX8 that responded back when I bumped into him was gh8st, which is on this forum.

I get excited when I see another 8 on the road, but when I'm in my PT cruiser and I try to get their attention, they must be thinking I'm crazy

That thread reminds me of an episode in Curb Your Enthusiasm, when Larry David was chasing fellow Prius owners who did not wave back))

i always seem to run into other rx8 owners when i'm not driving mine, then when i am, i always wave or rev or something, but it's always just commuters or people who just "dont get it"

Your funny!

The new 8's have less HP and are slower in the quarter. Check your facts first.

They also stop slower.

I live in south Florida.... 90% of 8 owners here are 55 year old women with the seat 4 1/2 inches from the steering wheel..... I rev up and try to race them anyways.

I'm beginning to think that if you look stock or unmodded in some way, the modded 8's you're probably trying to gain contact with probably won't even notice you. I feel that if the driver dosen't look like they're not savvy to the community then there's no point in trying to ssay 'whats up' - doing stuff like revving your car or honking when you're stock kinda gives me a different impression than if you were modded.

example: stock rx8 revving = me wondering what the hell that high pitched whiney noise is.
Modded rx8 w/exhaust = me looking around for who the hell sounds like me...

stock rx8 honking at me = he wants to fight (jk) i'm probably in his way
modded rx8 honking = he spotted me - or he wants to fight?? o_0?? lol

i think we should all just save our energy some times when we see other 8's. Our car's overall price tag has fallen and now anybody could pretty much pick up one. I say we keep our 'what's up' limited to those who look like they know 'whats up'
