When you are really angry don't slam the trunk lid

the TSB is only valid for early 2004 cars. Look at the VIN range... not even my car that was picked up in November 2003 qualifies (although I don't have this problem with mine).
The dealer might still fix it under warranty, but not based on this TSB as newer cars (like your 2006) should already have the new weatherstrip and the protective "stickers".

check with the forum venders. I bet you can have one by the end of the week for half the price.
I would be willing to bet - based on the pictures floating around this site with the lens over half filled with standing water - you don't have much to worry about.

My e-*****.
They will apply it to any vehicle that does not have the pads. There are plenty of '06 cars without them. It is still a dealer-installed countermeasure.

When I read the title.
I figured somebody else had locked their keys in their trunk.
Not fun at all. And having to explain to your coworkers why you need them to take you home for a spare key... you will never hear the end of it.
Although not quite as embarassing as locking your keys in your _running_ automobile.
I had a 300ZX a few years ago... with a turbo timer. So I didn't think twice about the running engine when I locked the door.
A couple hours later, I went outside and noticed it was still running. What a waste of gas.

All I have to say is.....................ANGER MANAGEMENT........................ That will teach you. No be nice to your 8. To make it up to the car, you should replace the tail light, tint the windows and one other upgrade.. That is your punishment.

And the verdict is? Covered under warranty.
While the TSP didn’t apply it did allow me to show them the lid was a problem and use it as a case of why the damage was done (as in the tool not the force). They asked me “Is it under warranty”, I said “Yes, only 14k miles”. They said “It’s a warranty repair then, no problem.”
Only bad thing is they have sold their Mazda dealership back to Mazda and will only be covering repairs and service for another six months. Looks like I’ll have to find a new dealer.

using the grab handle on my car causes it to not close. you really have to jerk it hard (and possible slip your fingers in the crack) for it to go down all the way. i think my hydraulics are over pressurized.
i get worried when people use my spoiler as a handle for the trunk. -_-

I've had Mazda replace things on my 2006 that had TSBs that were for 2004-2005 and didn't include my vin range. They didn't even mention that my car wasn't included in the TSB, they just fixed it.

anybody else had trouble with the taillight bulbs falling out? I close the lid real easy now cause I got tired of taking all the trunk lining out to put the bulb back in. Happened 3 or 4 times till I quit shutting so hard.

I agree about not taking anger out on you RX-8s, on time, I was also extremely pissed off, and I got hung up on (big pet peeve). I slammed my phone down on my center console and cracked it in half and knocked it off the tracks and the clip flew off the front and put a mark on my dash. Just to replace the "slider", my dealer quoted $170!!!(100 parts+70labor) So yea, dont abuse your RX8s people!!!!
