while getting the recalls done
hey guys
still haven't gotten my car back yet after almost 2 months..... they said i would get it back last week but they were wrong, hopefully i'll get my baby back this week.
wondering if you guys know of any other things i should bring up to the service guys while i take my car in to get the ball joint and thermal recall done. sucks that i bought the car in 1/05 and ended up with an 04 model that was assembled before december of 03.... should have done my research. i wonder if any of these service guys would be nice enough to upgrade my navi firmware and upgrade my ecu to the latest flash. sucks tho that the service people at john kennedy ford in pa aren't helpful at all. any feedback would be great guys thanks!

As part of the thermal recall, you must get the latest flash anyway. I don't think the service will upgrade the nav firmware for you - somehow mazdaparts.com can do that but I haven't heard of a dealer who'd have done it.
Go through the TSB list at Rosenthal and see which are the ones that are applicable to your VIN and if you have those symptoms. Get them done at the same time.
Just wondering: what is taking two months?

thanks tamas for letting me know about the flash situatiton.
well, there were many different factors that contributed to how long it's taking for my car to be fixed.
1. had to wait a week for the police lady to write up a police report.
2. police lady only sent my lawyer 5 of 6 pages of the police report.
3. my lawyer couldn't find out any information on the other driver... so i did some detective work myself and found out that he was with statefarm.
4. had to wait for statefarm to accept liability
i was hit on july 14th, my car sat at the collision center until august 13th before they started working on it.. so after driving a malibu for a month and now driving a cavalier, i am missing my 8 like crazy. it's going to feel like i just bought the car again when it's ready

I went to Magic Mazda in Las vegas for an oil change, and they informed me about the recall. It only took them 1 hour to get it done, and on the service record it said nothing about the PCM flash being done. Is that right? Is the insulation that quick to do? My car was build on 7/04, I dont know what group that falls under.
