Whining noise while in D.

Ok, i mentioned awhile back that I had a quiet whining noise that sounded like a turbo when the radio picked it up.

Well, I was driving home tonight and passed a large building and heard this very lound whining noise and figured out it was me. I stoped in front and put the car in neutral and reved it up a bit and no sound. When I put it in drive (D) and drove past the buildings at under 20mph, I heard it again. BUt only when the noise is reflected off a surface for me to hear, but its very disconserning. And as you guys know, im a computer person, and not so much a car person. I checked all the hoses and airfilter box to check for anything sucking in air like a whistle, and nothing.

So... what should I tell the dealer when I bring it in? Just what I said above or should I keep my mouth quite and say its making a whisting noise?

Thanks for any suggestions... Going to check it in friday.

Do you have a system in your car? Bad Amp grounds can make a noise like that.

With out hearing it my self I can olny take guesses. Also check your tires for nails/screws they can make a funny sound also.

Are your break rotors still flat and smooth?

If you dont see anything like that it might be something motor/tranny related

lol freddie?
Anyway I do not have any mods or additions in my car. I turned off the stereo completly infact. My break roters have started squeeking a bit, but not at every break, and only when i break. And as for seeing anything out of the ordanary, i do not. It does seem like the noise is comming from the silver cylinder that I think is the alternator, but not sure.

And to those that are hating and calling my posts all fake:
---> One post about not having my 5 paper pistons should not be takin seriously. If you were convinced the post was serous and put real hard earned effort into helping me out I thank you anyway! And if that post makes all future help requests fake? so be it! But stop complaining to me, and its unlikly that I will not post one of those posts in the future. Sorry.

--------
Anyway,... Thanks for your suggestions Trekk. Apreciate them.

its hard once you already cry wolf, but as for the problem it might be a normal sound, do you have the chance to listen to another rx8 other than you own?

Yes, but I only hear it when the noise reflects off a large wall building *but its loud. And where all our local 8's are, there arnt any large walls to test. Note again, its onyl when the car is in a gear, not while in neutral.

and Dills: C'mon how could requesting help that my dealer left out my pistons be considered 1.) serous, and 2.) crying wolf.

I only noticed a whining noise when I was on the track. It was coming from the general area of the passenger seat. Actually it sounded more like screaming in terror. I tried asking my instructor about it after the run, but he was passed out.
