whistling sound under throttle

For lack of a better term, I think it is a pump that pushes clean air into the exhaust system to keep the "pollution" levels down. 5000 rpm sounds dead on. Somebody will come up with the term, I hope. Some guys used to remove it from the 7 but it is not advisable to do so with the 8. Hope this helps

But if that were true, the whistle would happen on all 8's (unless this pump is bad). No whistle present on a few of my friends' cars.

I suppose that this would depend on the quality of gas, AT or MT, some peculiarities in the build of the pump, many other factors that a mechanic can explain to you and I can't and, of course, driving habits. I will search for it and come back with more info.

its all 8's that whistle, i hear about ecerybody complaining of it so its just a side effect of the renesis rotary engine, so dont worry about it

input shaft for sure i hear it too and knew it was something witht eh tranny when under "load"
