Didn't someone else post something about this yesterday?
White = Fleet/Rental car or Kitchen Applicance
Alpine White isn't a special white. It's just bleach white. Any non-white White is off-white or beige-ish...and IMHO, beige just doesn't belong on a sports car.

I always have been a fan of white cars and that picture of the white above looks great !!
I don't think I would repaint a brand new car since you literally need to take the entire car apart to do it correctly so there is no evidence of the Grey.
Don't forget you need to paint all the door jams, under the hood, under the trunk, in the engine compartment where you see the body color, etc. etc.
I wouldn't want my new car taken apart plus the grey you have is beautiful and there aren't many RX8's on the road as it is, in fact the color I see the most of is usually Red and that is still an unusual siting.

No doubt about it the white looks nice. White is by no means an ugly color (no beige, rose quartz or whatever people want to call it....ever). White can just be kind of...sterile.
Besides, it's hard to make the 8 look bad. :D

You keep saying this Rental/Fleet thing about white cars Eric, but if you stroll through a major rental car company, at least where I have been traveling to, almost none of the cars are white. In fact, my last two rental cars were red, and the 4 prior to that were silver or some shade of blue.

I'm not sure about anyone else's experiences with rentals, but mine are usually white. Of course I'm also the one that is in a hurry and has to take the car without it being cleaned. Nothing like going on a crappy business trip with Joe Bob's fast food bag still in the floorboard. :p

Actually white is the official "Race Color" of Japan. Germany is Silver, Italy Red, France Blue, UK Green. That's why all the "Type Rs" of Honda are championship white (ok, except the 2 wave of Intgra Type R over here)
Reason why Mercedez always has that silver color for lemans, etc,
and the British have the deep racing green for the Aston, Bentley, Jaguar etc....
I'm guessing theyre saving the white Rx-8 for an Official Mazdaspeed one, or atleast a "racier" version. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, Germany's national racing color is white - not silver. Silver is often associated with German racing because AutoUnion (Audi) and Mercedes Benz stripped the paint off of their silver arrows to save weight during the '30s.

Agreed. White hides dirt much better than most colors especially black. Having owned both a white car and a black car, I'd take the white car over the black one in a second when it comes to ease of keeping clean.
Being a bit **** with my cars, watching the dust and pollen settle on an otherwise pristine car kills me...and there's nothing you can do about it. :D

My last car was black, and while I think black makes most cars look better, that only lasts a couple hours and that drove me nuts. I will never own a red or yellow car unless it's an exotic, the Subaru like blue is being offered by nearly every car maker now and is VERY common on WRXs, Silver is just too common and really doesn't do much for me, which brings me to why I own a white WRX

I would like a White RX-8.
I had a white RX-7 ('87), a white Z28 ('95), a white BMW 525i ('95), and currently drive an Alpine White E46 M3 ('02).
The only car I had recently that was not white as a '96 Red Miata !!!
