Here in Australia we are getting the Shinka in 2 colours, Titanium Grey and Radiant Ebony mica. This was also confirmed by the dealership I bought my 8 from last week.

Here's the link http://www.nextcar.com.au/n.mazda.RX8.04nov.html

However I suspect the North American market may have different models etc...

Was he misinformed or am I misinformed?
Find another dealership.

Shinka

I was at my local Mazda Dealership about 2 months ago and they had a 2005 white metallic RX8 Shinka. It had the Shinka label on it and had the nice bright finish wheels!!!

I witnessed it myself. It was the only Shinka edition on the lot at the time. I haven't been back since...

The shinka can also be identified by a special plaque in the engine compartment firewall that identifies it as a rx-8se (Special Edition) and includes the VIN# any dealership can add the wheels, head/taillights badges etc to a car and call it "shinka" I actually saw a "special "edition in black cherry mica, regular wheels with different center caps, Mazdaspeed spoiler, appearance package, rotary accent package, the premium sound system, tan leather interiors, and the special edition plaque in the engine compartment. It however did not have the shinka B-pillar caovers (had regular rx8 ones) and the interior trim wasn't piano black, it was actually COLOR MATCHED to the black cherry exterior. It looked awesome exept for the fact that they added some very cheap looking "special eddition" badges on the C- pillar. also the sales guy didn't know about any performance/ suspension upgrades on the car and believed it to be only a special apppearance thing. (it was also priced at $31,000 USD when the velocity red 6MT right next to it was $34,000 WTH?

This was in Puerto Rico, so it should have had the same specs as all other US spec cars.

Did the dealer get a stripped/vandalized car and re made it into something they could sell?????

I have been to three different dealers and cannot believe the things I hear from these sales guys. I swear, these guys do not know the cars they sell. Take the following examples.
The car has 148 hp
The dash light color is the same at night as in the day
I think a auto climate control can be ordered
Then the guy that does not know how to pronouce Sirius as in Sirius satellite radio.
I'm no expert but when I bought by BMW the sales guys lived and breathed the car and could tell me any fact I wanted to know.

it's a toss up usually some guys are in it for the cars and others will tell you whatever just to make a buck.

Another way we are getting shafted......if you look at the Japanese model, they get Navi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF???? That is the one thing about my car that gets me upset. How can Mazda sell a top of the line car, and leave out one of the best options??

Somebody probably said "red and white", meaning red exterior and white interior. The salesperson probably misunderstood. Imagine that!

Shafted? We pay so much less for our 8's then most of the world... In Europe, Asia and Australia this car is the equivalent of $40k or more.
