also for the record abbid, im no racer. ill do the ocational track day but thats about it. i hate drag racing cause well, i think its lame and i am certainly too old for the street racing scene.

i simply posted my question because i didnt believe it was possible or at best, it was extremely rare. but i guess that i was wrong. like i said, my car cant do it and i know what im doing. i get my car back tomarrow and ill see if R flash is worth the trouble.

ghost,
since you started this what form of rx-8 do you have. i paid my way through school street racing, not straight line, but rural va street racing.

i do find that running in a straight line for speed is my only option here in fla. damn tourists.

just a good quick shift is all that is needed. it will make the traction control light blink or if you have it off it will make a noise and move to the pass side ~ 6".

you did good on this thread the response was huge.

I can chirp 2-3 shift with me and 2 passengers in the car. And can chirp 3-4 with just myself at least. Will try to do it next time my g/f is riding with me.

The 1-2 shift is characterized by massive amounts of wheel hop, 2-3 in a very loud high pitched "chirp". The 3-4 shift isnt as loud, but its definately there.

Stock car, no tire change, only upgrade from stock is Tein Springs.

well, just got back from romero mazda with the new R flash and still no chrip from 2-3.

the tech there was pretty cool and said that he was able to do it with other 8's but for some reason just not mine. he said that if i want, i could leave it for further testing but chances are that i just got a weaker one... or one with clutch problems. he also said that it might change after the 5000 mile mark? what happens at the 5000 mile mark? does the ecu change like in the mazda 6?

anyways, i just took my car back. chirping into third isnt that important to me.

I would be more worried that there are tech's out there driving our cars like that.

gh0st, try this and get back to us. Take her up to 7-7.5K RPM, hold for a second, Speed shift popping the clutch very quickly and not loosing any RPM's. The power band should be steep at this point. I did it on the way home just to see if I could do it at lower than redline and it worked great. It may be that you are loosing your power at higher RPMs. Some of the guys around here had their cars Dyno'ed and they have a power loss around 7000. Not sure what's causing it but it is definately a problem with some cars.

i told the mechanic about the problem. thats why he tried.

like ive stated before, anything above 6500 rpm, my car feels like it losses power big time.

ill try popping the cluch at 7000 rpm in a little bit.

i gotta say, the r flash did seam to help the power loss a bit. not much though. im going to san diego for the weekend. but im gonna get a dyno test next week to investigate a bit. i also wanna test drive an 05 to compare with mine.

My O4 was stronger than my 05. A friend mentioned the possibility the power loss may be the plugs being put in the wrong positions. The RX8 uses two different sizes of plugs. I really don't know enough about this to explane but I'm sure someone else here could.

nope... my car is way weaker then the 05 i drove today. my car felt a tiny bit stonger until about 6000K. i couldnt really push the 05 because the car salesman was in the with me but i could tell. i have a dud!!!
i really dont know what to say right now. on one hand, i didnt really by the rx8 for its streight line ability anyways. i liked how it reminded me of an s2000 but wth 4 doors. but now on top of having a dud mtor, i find that there is a recall because my marvelouse suspention might kill me. ... speachless....

I dunno how to respond, because it actually happened, my & my friend were cruising around, he drives a Eagle TSI with a huge turbo, and even he was impressed with the 3-4 chirp.

Make sure you have your service department check the spark plug positions as I mentioned in post #60.

I can get the chirp from 2-3 on Kumho Ecsta KU31s.. lots of tread on them, 65,000miles on the 8...

1-2 shift gets sideways.. Love it..

Nice bump

Ive managed to get a chirp for the 2-3 shift a handful of times, but my tires are pretty shitty. And now my rear end needs to be rebuilt... Go figure...

+1 on the thread revival. No-one can complain to you about starting an unnecessary thread.

The only time I can chirp 3rd is if I have too much rear camber or if I am cornering while I shift which I don't do and its more a slide then a chirp.
