Who here HAS received their letter?

Got mine today. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the 8, but I will hold onto the letter until the last minute anyway. I may make changes to it that are initialed, then copy it and send it in. I don't care for the ambiguity in the letter, because it indicates to me that the HP number could be dropped again and we would have no recourse.

I couldn't wait for my letter so I called Mazda, and had the customer service rep fax me the letter along with the page which shows what you need to send to their legal department. The guy said the whole process will take about three or four weeks ater they receive your infomation. He also said I could turn my car in and purchase another one the same day.

Got mine today, August 28th (Los Angeles County, CA) via First Class mail. Although the return address on the outer envelope is MNAO in Irvine, CA, it was postal meter stamped "LANSDALE PA, Aug 25 '03."
Interestingly, it included no return envelope in which to send back the form if I want to opt for the $500/free maintenance. It was obviously cobbled together in something of a hurry.
edit: Purchased 7/17/03.

Got my letter on Wednesday. So they are saying you can return your RX8 and buy another RX8 the same day? If this is true everyone should return it that has over 1k miles. :D

Got my letter yesterday 8-28, Ohio, still haven't decided yet. This is a tuff decision to make with very limited information. I like the car and would hope Mazda will have a fix.

I haven't received my letter but called anyhow.. Asked them to fax mine in. They will fax me the letter and buyback forms. I just wanted to see what the buyback forms entailed and maybe it explained the process.
However, from what I learned from the very pleasant phone rep, they will pay you the exact price you paid for the vehicle. Thats tax, tag any markup, etc. I repeat, exact price you paid. Barring any damages or irregular wear and tear. Whatever that would be. They will not pay any interest accrued on financing, etc, or for any aftermarket installed items.
If you decide to sell back, there will be some forms you need to fill and arrange where to bring in your car. They will need a copy of your sales contract, etc. Apparently, the drop off doesnt need to be the same dealer. At that point, your car will be inspected and a check will be cut.
There are no stipulations as to buying another one. You can take your money and buy another one that very day if you so desire.

Thanks for the info Nut. I have yet to recieve my letter. San Francisco, Ca.
For those like me who paid a mark-up, we need to go back and calculate is a buy back and repurchase worth it vs $500 debit card and 4 yrs service. This is very interesting because I'm going to have an RX8 either way. Just which is best financialy plus factor in the time spent breaking her in and time spent at the dealership etc...
Anybody know if you can have mazda buyback your car then repurchase the same car at used prices? Is it true they're going to sell the buybacks to employees?

That's a good question ask.. I think however, once the car is bought back, it is bought by Mazda USA (MNAO). Therefore the dealer can't resell it, because it's not theirs.
Which also probably means that all the bought-back cars will go back to MNAO unless MNAO works a way to sell them back to the dealers..
IMO, the dealers shouldnt really care, they've already been paid for the car and probably would be just mediators in the whole mess. It's MNAO that's buying the cars not the dealers. I might be wrong..
