Yes, I think the difficulty is with anyone who paid above MSRP. The $500 and Service is hard to pass up if you bought at or below MSRP. For many it's probably not worth the hassle to loss the use of the vehicle, in hopes a getting another 8 "down the road". Curious as to what the fine-print has to say about how long one must wait before they can turn around and buy the 8 again.

Note the letter says they have to RECEIVE your response by 1 Oct. That doesn't mean we have till 1 Oct to reply, as has been commonly stated before. Plan ahead!
Oh, and got my letter today (8/29) in San Diego. Haven't decided what I'm going to do; waiting to see if the mileage is going to improve. I'm at 2300 miles now, and getting 17.5 mpg (up from low 15's earlier.)

Im really pissed. Im getting 10-12mpg and so i want to do the buyback but i'll get screwed over if i do. For one, there was a payoff of about $2,300 from my trade in, so i'll have that to deal with. Second, I got gap insurance which I'll still have to pay for, third, the interest i'll be stuck with.

1st time poster, short-time lurker here. I'm not to keen on all the finanials of the buy-back. I have negative equity from the leased Jeep Cherokee i traded in. If i take the buy back deal, what happens to that negative equity and my Jeep? Am i stuck making payments on the negative equity with no car to show for it?? Any help would be apreciated.

I got my official letter today. My salesperson even called me and said they would give a good deal on another RX8 if I buy from them.
I guess that means the saleperson gets to keep their original commission.

My letter arrived on Friday, and my reply went out on Saturday. What I want to know is - who here HAS received their debit card? I hope the expiration is a long way off, as I just promised my wife I'd hold off until after the holidays before charging it out on car parts.

I bought mine around 8/1 from
Menlo Mazda. Not letter here.
Has anybody sold theirs back to Mazda?
How does it work? I paid MSRP. I traded
in paid off WRX.
If they still had my old car (wrx), do they give it back plus the money I paid? Or do they just pay $34k
ish?my sales contract
I would rather keep the car and have mazda fix it (more hp). I don't want free service. I want I what I paid for. (247 hp).

I for one would be sort of ashamed to return the car at dealership you bought it from and turn around and buy another one on the same lot. It's just me.. feels strange. But I'm sure the dealer wouldnt care, to them, it's another 8 sold. And this time, it CANT be returned OR maintained for free.... heheh

Got my letter today, in IN.
I'm planning to keep it. I AM wondering, though, what happens if you don't take either of the offers... I suppose somebody would have to sue Mazda in a class-action kinda thing. Personally, I drove the car before I bought it, and I liked it then, and I've liked it more and more the longer I've had it (3 weeks). So, no chance I'm sending it back.
fwiw.
