Who still has their pre-ordered RX-8?
I picked mine up July 18, 2003. I will have had it for 7 years in a little over 2 weeks. Cannot believe it has been that long. Still enjoy driving it as much as on the first day. No major problems.
There were a lot of posts by folks in 2003 as they were waiting and then gettng their cars. Just wondering how many are still enjoying theirs. I am.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
Hey Urchin, I got mine the same day - 7/18/2003! That must have been close to the Big Bang when they finally released them from the port campaign at the docks. I have vin ending 859, and with its 2nd engine, it's stronger than the day it was born .

I should have also asked those who do not still have their 8's, why not and what did you get?

mine's still going strong 7 years at the end of this month.
mine was suppose to be on that 1st boat but I had one off those dealers that couldnt read instructions. I had to basically throttle them until they found me a car .
In fact they didnt find it- one of the other dealers found what i wanted that was supposed to end up at the tech training place up near Seattle.

Got mine in June of 03 as well - I think the paint was still wet when I picked it up!
Still love it - she is my 4th Mazda Rotary going back to 1987.
Mileage is at 152,000... original engine and working well. I wish the CAT lasted a little longer - on my third one.

Wow, seven years old already? I just went over 113,000 miles on my third motor. I have a July of 2003 Build date but the last three of my VIN are 812 and I bought mine with 12k on her.

I got mine in November 2004, got the $500 debit card and free maintenance incentive to keep the car as they had mis-stated the HP rating.
I still own the car and enjoy driving it immensely. Actually I like the '04 model looks better than what it looks like now as the exterior and interior theme now seems to be a bit lost vs. what Mazda originally did in 2004.
I actually revisited here to see if I can get some info on coming year models as I would consider a new one if they make a significant improvement that would compel me to upgrade. So far this has not been the case.
May all RX-8 owners enjoy their cars as much as I do mine.

Haven't posted in a loooooong time, but couldn't resist this thread. Though I did not pre-order mine, I purchased a Nov-2003-built RX-8 in Feb 2004. When we moved to DC, I hardly ever drove it; we couldn't justify keeping it, so we sold it in 2006
Now that we've moved back out to CO, and I'm driving more, I'm seriously considering a 2011... then I could say I'd had the first year and the last year of the RX-8
All the best, guys!
Ciao!
