who are you!?!?!
The other day I was looking at a thread, but I cannot seem to remember what.
I saw a guy in the thread who replaced his filter with I believe something K & N. But not only that, but he had some sort of glass or Plexiglas lid for it made, or made it himself. Not sure.
But I cannot find it again and want to get a better look at the filter and lid.
Side note:
Whats the best filter for the money to get for the 8?

Actually the one I saw was the same one or similar to the ones in this post.
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...4&postcount=34
But as for the racing beat intake. That is prett expensive is it not?
When I said best for the money I was thinking a good one, not the best one .
But I most definitely want one with a cone shaped end. Because I want to have it exposed or with one of those little plexiglass window setups.
But if I have it exposed isn't it just sucking warm engine air right back into it?

yes a short ram intake will pull in the hot air thats stored under the hood. There are several ways to combat this if you have a short ram. 1.) Cut a intake slot into your bumper. 2.) Get a vented hood. 3.) get a special box made so it isolates off the rest of the hot engine bay.

Which intake the AEM cold air intake or the K&N Gen 2 intake is going to do what?:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/intake-intakes-intakes-90202/
1 Which will provide more HP?
2 Which will produce a better sound
3 (not really necessary) but which is best for the engine, I assume cold air...
Thoughts on either one? Better one for the money?
Advice or opinions wanted and appreciated!

1 Which will provide more HP?
niether will provide any noticable power, but prob the AEM
2 Which will produce a better sound
This is in your opinion, I like the V2 better
3 (not really necessary) but which is best for the engine, I assume cold air...
probably the stock unit, followed by AEM, then V2

Both a waste of money if you're buying them for more power. All they do is dress up the engine bay and add sound.

well ya they don't add much power. But I want the sound, but that is kinda just an added bonus, the looks are cool. But mostly want it to be healthy for the engine, and I like to do modifications and haven't done any performance so I figure this is a good starting point.
Think I am going with the AEM cold air.
Anyone have any experience with this?

But why are you showing me? haha
I see the intake... but can't tell what kind it is. I would LOVE to do this to my car. It would be amazing. esp with the blue because I have blue lights all inside the interrior, footwells, interriors, coin box, and trunk.

When you said the AEM, then the V2.... are they not the same thing? I am on their website and it is called the AEM cold air intake V2... or did you mean the version 2 of the K&N?

Ya, see I don't want a lot of noise. Noise is good when you are at 7K rpm. Not at 2. Sounds like a shitty '98 civic. Not an rx8 and I DO NOT want that. I also noiticed that if you get the cold air intake you can't keep the plastic engine cover on. This also bothers me. I want that.
Suggestions? How can I keep the cover on with the AEM cold air? What other intakes are good? Or is there an aftermarket plexiglass heatshield I can buy, or a guide on how to make one?

You know i dont know how accurate the readings are on my Scangauge2 but at idle the intake temps are high vs driving. They drop big time. Then agen I have the Racing Beat ram air duct so when I'm driving thats feading air to my K&N.2 intake.

Ya, I decided on a blue AEM.
Hope install isn't too hard. But from what I've read, the hardest part is getting the stock box off...
Oh, well just looked at my bank account, drained a few hundred recently, among the car, gas, and other stupid sutff. So I'm gonna let it level back off and then buy the AEM.
