One question, unrelated... my car doesn't beep when I hit redline.

I have a 2010 r3. I have been trying to figure this out, but no solution?

Thanks

I can barely hear mine at all. For almost a month I didn't know what it sounded like. I had to find a smooth stretch of road and turn the radio off to hear it.

I have a question now too. What is the real redline on a S2? It beeps as 8500, but is it there, or where the rev limiter is, or somewhere in between? How high of an RPM can we hold (minute +) without suffering damage?

Ive seen 9200rpm but the tach isnt correct. Ive hit rev limiter many times and kept it there many times when autocrossing.

Well this whole redlining thing is not specific to rotary engines. When I bought my 1958 porsche the guy told me you have to take the car out once a month and run the engine out. I bought it from a high end sports car dealer in california. I stopped and asked him (hes been driving and selling high performance cars for 40 years) and he told me that every high end performance engine has to be run through the rpms at least once a month for engine health. Everything from lambos, ferrari, porsche, to even the corvette.

a high performance engine does porly unless you drive them like they were engineered to run.

I red line my 8 at least once a day, usually more. Mines an 04 and (knock on wood) I have had no problems. I just follow the manual and do all of the routine maintenance. Otherwise, I drive it like i stole it every day. Truly an awesome car
