2 minute commutes are bad for any car, but with 7.5 quarts of oil, particularly so with the Renny. See the "milky oil" threads. Consider blocking the air to the oil coolers in winter to help the oil temps get up high enough to evaporate moisture from the oil.

I wouldn't recommend that, soley for the reason that you could forget to unblock them on a longer trip, and have no cooling through the entire trip.

I just recommend giving it some time to warm up, and possibly a new route to work. At least the warming up.

But, then you'd have to turn around and really make sure you work to prevent carbon buildup, since that'd happen easier idling for extended times..

Ultimately, such short trips just aren't good for the 8, as with any car.

Why redline it? Simply put, the higher the rpms the more fun you're going to have.

Exactly. I kind of believe the "blow the carbon out" and "make sure all the intake ports open" tales, and they're useful to explain to others what you're doing, but redlining is just so good for the soul.

Next time, don't tell them you're a girl.

Has anyone used the 'redline' excuse when getting pulled over by the po-po?

Officer: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Rx8 driver: Not sure, why?
Officer: You were driving like a bat out of hell.
Rx8 driver: Oh that. I was just blowing the carbon out.
Officer: Blowing what out?
