Why do a lot of people comment

that the RX8 does not look as good in pictures as in the flesh. I think it looks as good either way.

For those of us who pre-ordered. The RX8 in pictures was all we had. The actual proportions of the car could not be realized until you saw it in person.

I never once saw one in the "flesh" until my car arrived on the first RX8 shipment. I literally looked at hundreds and hundreds of photos online and thought I knew exactly what it looked like. We waited months like this. Without ever seeing the car.

I remember thinking...wow,...this looks even better in person, as my car rolled off the truck. It looked slightly smaller to me.....a little beefier too. I'm a firm believer that this car looks better in person.

I actually hated the RX8 from the pics in magazines. IMO it's hard to top the looks of the FD. It took a few in person sightings to over come the bias. Then I drove one and it was all over.

whenever I see it in pictures, I can't help but notice the long roof which looks odd, but in person, it looks prefect.

I preordered the car before ever seeing it. I definitely really liked the pictures, but I bought it for the rotary. Now that I own the car I think it looks even better in person than the pictures as well.

I didn't appreciate it in the pictures until I had seen it in person and drivin it. I thought the suicide doors looked dorky... now they are one of my favorite parts of the car. Last night I had four people in the car for the first time, it was awesome every got in and out without any trouble at all!!! I just love this car more and more every day!!! :D

Those who pre-ordered, my hat is off to you!!! I don't think I'd have the guts to buy a car I hadn't seen in person or driven.

I thought the 8 was so ugly the first time I saw it. It was yellow (no offense *PEACE) and just butt ugly as I was concerned. I loved the rx7 flavored rear but not a single other thing about it. For some reason the flare over the front wheels reminded me of the PT Cruiser which, in my OH so ever humble opinion, is the ugliest damned thing ever put on the road. I never gave the 8 another thought...

Until months later I saw a titanium cross traffic in front of me. It looked like a stealth bomber version of a sports car It didn't take long before I had one of my own.

I first saw the RX-8 in X2 and I HATED it! The pictures in X2 made it look overly tall and narrow and that turns out to be exactly what the car is not. It just looked odd. When I first saw one in person, I was like, "wtf is that? I like that! Look at those tail lights, they're friggin awesome!" And then I looked all over the car and found every little detail that I liked.

The car was not narrow or overly tall, but appropriately tall and wide like a sports car should be, yet not nearly as small as others in its class. Once I saw the doors, I realized it was the perfect combination of sports car and sedan and I absolutely had to drive one...

And then I did.. and it was over.. I drooled for months at the sheer technical and aesthetic beauty of the car untl mine fnally showed up. Now, I can't help but stare at it and take pictures of it because it is just so friggin sexy! It's like a woman with a good body and a good brain. Rare and beautiful.

Ahh.. yes... excuse me while I go drive.

As another one who pre-ordered in Jan '03, I finally got to see one exactly 1 year ago, at the Rev-It-Up event in Atlanta.

It was smaller than I expected, and did look better in the flesh.

Just like when you see pictures of people you never met....once you do meet them, they look different in person.

I think it looks great in the pictures......

But seeing that machine "face to face" is quite the breathe taking experience. Live and direct definitely strikes you much more than a pic.... Of course the drive is the big thing but looking at it, doing the "walk around" and sitting in it can definitely make a believer out of many before they even turn the key.

This car doesn't make sense until you've gone all the way around it. That's why a picture always feels like there's something missing.

Because pictures don't do it justice. As other fellow members mentioned as a pre-order it was near impossible to get to see the car beforehand. So yeah, the pictures showed something good but it even looked better in person. I've been trying to take pics that present the car they way it looks in person, but it is hard to do. Out of the gaggle of pics I took maybe 2-3 pictures show it properly. I finally saw the car a week before I got mine and was more than pleased when I finally did.

on another note, back in August I was offered a Titanium 8 coming in - the only one in the area the way I wanted it (Titan/GT) - but it had the black /Chapparel interior. The chaparell color looked quite poor in the pics of the time (i still think pics make it look poor)

I took a chance and bought the car anyway. (of course I had seen the Titanium color at the car show) When I went to pick it up was the first chance I had to see the chaprell interior, and I simply loved it. My GF loved it to and now I think it is the best combo for a titanium car.

Never a second thought- first time I saw it was in X2, and I knew I wanted one (without the spoiler, too over the top). I didn't even know what it was in the movie, so I didn't know it was actually a production car. Well, I'm glad it is, and I'm glad I have one. Definitely looks better in person. They should put a 360 walkaround video on the website instead of the "interactive" thing they have now.

Too funny! The first picture I ever saw was a yellow '8 and I said to myself, my wife, my kids, and my dog, "That's the next car I'm going to buy." Then I saw pictures of a red one (from different angles) and I didn't like the front fender part. They looked too bulbous. I don't think it looks bad in red, I just didn't like the pictures I had seen of it in red. I then reserved judgement until seeing it in person. I loved it. I bought a yellow one! :D

If you think they comment on your 8, try driving an FD to work.

yeah i wasnt too excited when i saw the initial pictures, but at Rev-it-up they had this perfect (i believe it was silver) RX8 sitting next to a miata behind one of the main tents in a tent of its own, and i basically dropped my jaw, then i got in and the feeling of looking over the control panel, and the way the chair cradled me like i was in the cockpit of some futuristic jet i knew this was going to be my car. The pictures didn't do it justice, I had to see it to appreciate the totality of its beauty, and seven months later, bam im driving one and have never regretted it.

I'm one of the ones who thinks it looks much better in person too....I can't pinpoint it.

I do know this, you'll never appreciate the Velocity Red unless you see it in person and in full sun....oh, and the car has to be freshly waxed as well....

Can someone post a good pic of an FD, please? I know that there were significant difference between the various RX-7 body types, but I've not been around long enough to know the differences.

For those of you who think the 8 doesn't look good in photos, I recommend you take a look at the stuff brothervoodoo has posted, particularly if you want to see a Titanium at its best... if you can find any (what happened to the photos, BV?). Good light, a nice background and some tasteful mods really make the 8 look great.

The FD on the far left with the rims is mine.

When you see angles like this, it just doesn't do the car justice.

you just can't make out the curves in the pictures. I am one who agrees, pictures don't do this car justice.
