USAA, those guys are notoruious for refusing claims, be very careful. My friend is in the process of suing those guys.

I own both, so easy for me to say

RX-8
City: 16-18mpg
Hwy: 20-21mpg

350z
City: 19-21mpg
Hwy: 24-27mpg

I weight both cars on the same CAT scale, 140lbs difference. It doesn't bother me much as I operate with more power. Most importantly, I know which car is faster. THey both have their own pros and cons, but the share parts thing is not really valid. Jetta uses almost the same engine as the Lambo (half the size) . Ferrari share parts with Masareti, Corvette uses the small block, Lotus ELise uses the Celica engine, AMG uses the same engine on all their cars. So what's the big deal? I don't like it, but it doesn't bother me anymore as long as the engine works good.

the keychain works wonders...

and for the people who do know about cars but not about rotaries.. hit them with no pistons, cylinders, cams, crankshaft, valves or heads.. that will teach them.

it depends on which models you compare with, but it's typically 200-400 lbs difference.

also factor in what a turbocharged rx-8 will cost, it'll typically be less than a stock 350z, and then you're talking about a much faster car that is also lighter.

I had USAA for years before I made the mistake of leaving them. I came back to them. They fight hard for you and I've never seen anyone have a problem with them paying out. They are really hard on other insurance companies who don't do their jobs. Everyone that I've ever known who has them loves them. I will never leave them again.

Since the words "political (politically)" and "correct" have no business being used in the same sentence, I think "rotard" is quite appropriate. I'm smart. I'm anti PC. In fact usually I'll go out of my way to insult someone!

Excellent! "Rotarded" does have a nice ring to it.

Last summer I pulled into a gas station and a dude beside my pump was filling up his yellow Lambo Gallardo, he saw me gave me a wink and said nice car, I looked at his and said same to you, I asked how many cylinders is in his he replied its a v10, he started commenting about how he drove an 8 and how much he loved the rpm range of the rotary engine and then some clown in a civic pulls up and says "Are you guys gonna race? my money is on the Lambo he prob has twice the horses and cylinders then your crappy RX8" to which the Lambo driver said "He has no cylinders and he will still smoke your civic" Lambo driver sticking up for me that was pretty cool

I work with insurance and both our companies rate it as a 4 door coupe, and there is no check next to any engines. Also when I went to my mechanic to renew his shops insurance, he saw my car (which he has worked on all of my cars up to now) and he started talking to me about it, turns out he used to be certified by mazda to repair and work on rotaries. Anyways while we were talking ones of his neighbor buddies came out of his shop and asked us if it was a v6 and my mechanic went on trying to explain it to him. The guy looked at us weird and was like "whatever you dont have to sound upset" and he walked away

I havent been annoyed yet by the question of "Is it a V-6 or a V-8?" if anything i kinda relish it since those who usualy ask me are your typical looking "muscle car gear heads". And come on.. I dont think I'll ever get sick of seeing that look of shock and I dunno um.. "Duuuh.. wot?!" when replying to them "Neither its a Rotary Engine, it has no pistions."

Awesome story. There's a gent here where I live who also owns a Gallardo and one of his cars is a black RX-8.

The president of my company is a major car guy. He owns many exotics and races a GT3 in SCCA. He saw me one night in my 8 at a retirement dinner and wanted to know who was driving it. He told me I had nice taste in cars. Can't beat that

haha yeah, they work hard to not pay other people. My friend was wacked by an USAA customer. On the police report, the cop basically said it was the other guy's fault. USAA came back and said we are not paying because our insurer said he didnt do anything wrong. Gotta love it.

Wait, I can't get a turbocharger for my car? Turbocharger adds weight, you are talking about easily an extra 40lbs. I can make up the rest of the difference by removing my spare tire and putting in less gas!! (20 gal vs 15 gal). Please, don't give me the lighter bullcrap. 3000lbs+ is not exactly lightweight, but it's better than most new cars. Also extra power means you need better suspension, brakes and all the other fun stuff. Good luck keeping up. The speed demon will suck your wallet dry.

2004 GT vs 2004 Enth., that is the weight difference. You can come check it out if you don't believe me.

Am I the only one who's had people think it is a rotary engine like on old aircraft?....

"Is it a V6?"
"Nope, it's a rotary engine..."
"Oh wow like in old airplanes?!" [As they think of old rotary/radial engines like below]

"No, that'd be cool tho. It works like this..." [Pulls out rotary engine key chain]

I keep a rotor, and sometimes a rotor housing, in my trunk at all times. Mainly for car shows / meets / fun pictures, but it helps in explaining how it works, too.

**** a crappy Civic driver off ...... priceless.

Theres something money cant buy, but to **** a Civic driver off, you have to remember this line "I have no cylinders but I will still smoke your civic"

I made a emergency lane change yesterday, that would have destroyed most cars, but 8 didn't flinch a inch. Most cars can go fast, the 8 handles fast.
