RX-8 Discussion General discussion about the RX-8 that doesn't fit in one of the specialty forums.

Why do people keep thinking we pack a v6 in our RX-8??

I was at a ford dealer a few weeks ago and the sale person there tried to sell me a Mustang. He asked what I drove, I told him a RX-8.
SP: He says nice, what's in it a v6?
Me: Not it's a rotory
SP: Nice, how many cylinders?
Me: None, it's a rotory and it's a 1.3L
SP: WOW, you must get really good gas milage
Me: (Chuckles) Not really. It has about 200whp and rev's to 9K rpm.
SP: 9K rpm, that's not good for the motor, you should get this mustang, it only revs to 6.5K. It's a lot more reliable if you drive it a lot. Since the mustang has lower rpm's it will last longer...
Me: (Shakes Head *no....) And I leave lauging....

What a way to sell a car "it only rev's...." Not exactly something you want to say....

Since V6 refers to number of cylinders (6) arranged in V shape. Should call rotary engine in RX-8 a O2. Rotary is shaped like O and there are two of them.

Common, go ahead and tell them RX-8 has O2.

Me too. I tell people that I drive a four door 1.3 litre 2 cylinder Mazda.

The add was funny. Front drive and 4 cylinders....
