Why do these things happen to me ???
So I was on the interstate last night and a giant shredded truck tire flies up and cracks the **** out of my front bumper at 75 mph, as I rush off the next exit to see wtf happened I get a speeding ticket for 26 over the limit.
Good Lord I have some bad luck.
BTW this did not have anything to do w/ the fact that my 8 is silver.
I guess this could mean its time for a body kit ? I was thinking not b/c with my luck I would end up paying even more next time something like this happens.

Same thing happened to me (sans the ticket). Dealer quote was ~ $1500 to repair (replacing bumper cover, headlight, and fog light)
I just glued my fog light back together and left it alone. I can't afford to repair it right now, so it'll have to wait.
I'm just glad that I had a pair of oil cooler grills. Otherwise there probably would have been oil all down the highway.

Wow, tough luck Dro.
Maybe we should equip all our silver 8's with brush guards. I'd go with a flat black - contoured to match the front of the car. Maybe even mount a couple of big driving lights on top of it.
The local high-riding truck crowd would have nothing on me.

Maybe if the tire shreds had a conscience state of mind, and could not avoid cracking my front bumper due to the fact that my car was silver / invisible I would agree.
And even if that was the case I should not have gotten a speeding ticket, you cant pull over what you cant see !!!

So sorry to hear of your misfortune. Two nights ago I was driving home on I-5 after work in a downpour. Got stuck behind a Les Schwab 1-ton flatbed when all of a sudden I saw and tie-down strap fly off which went right over my car. Then three big rig tires fell off the truck which I slalomed around (our cars handle incredible). Once I missed them I had to do one final weave around the truck because he slamed on the brakes and stopped in the middle of the lane. My car is TI02. So if it had been silver or a non-RX8, kaboom.

There was no way for me to avoid this unfortunately, there was traffic to the left of me and i was in the right lane =\

This one time I was out driving and it had just poured. But it stopped very suddenly and became very sunny fooling people into thinking that the conditions were ok even though the roads were still soaked. I was merging onto I-95 and out of the corner of my eye I see a flatbed toe truck literally going sideways down the road. It was surprisingly comical for some reason. He slid right in front of me and I had to slalom around him. It was pretty awesome.
But I don't have an 8. I just felt like sharing. My car is black, though, and had it been silver I'm afraid that the curse of the silver 8's may have been transmitted to my car even though the RX-8's weren't on sale yet -- the curse is that powerful.

Crashed my silver RX8 about a month ago. Over $6,000 in damage. I finally got it back yesterday. I thought I was going to go nuts. I had to drive a Ford Taurus rental car for a whole month.
I don't believe in the curse bullshit. I just think that there are more silver RX8's on the road than any other color.
