I have friends talk about my car a lot. I don't get challenged much, I try to stay on the offensive and do the challenging! I'm not dissapointed too often especially on the highway rolling in 3rd.. (the magic gear)

One of my friends seems to think his stock sentra spec-v has got something. To those people I just laugh. and when they won't shut up I tell up them to put some money up and we'll go.

Just ignore them. Real races are timed. Street race are stupid and pointless. Straighline drags is just soooo damn boring. Where is the sportscar in straightline driving. I know most people don't have the "feel" in driving a car fast around bends. These are the same people who will drag you on the straights. They pick on us coz we have a measly 1.3 litre engine.

I got picked on once with 2 of my friends just before Christmas. Both came up with this question: (Probably the same as a challenge to drag... but done with words) 1 has a 350z the other a Subaru GT Liberty/Legacy.

"How does your RX8 manage to get up a hill?"

My reply: "I have the first 3 gears that will give me good wheel torque in my engine's powerband."

was my reaction. They have no clue what wheel torque is or what low gearing does. They were even more shocked my car only makes 211Nm of torque.

Most people under estimate an RX8.

I went 300 once. I was going downhill though so I don't think it counts...

Yep. I've had the car since Monday, had 3 challenges already.

Mid 80s Berlinetta (Cheap Camaro)
Cavalier
Chevrolet Cobalt

Needless to say, I never even turned my head, they weren't worth my time. Also noticed alot of head turning when it comes to my car now, HOT women that want nothing to do with my ugly butt now stare...kinda cool.

Ok......that's just ridiculous. Are you sure you don't have a "race me" sticker on the back of your 8 and not know it?

I always feel the fool after street racing. Does'nt matter who wins. You could kill someone doing it. Not worth it. It's an irresponsible act. I also value my driver's license and low insurance rates.

They are posing. They noticed you, now they want you to notice them. The 8 has a significant presence on the road.

**** them off by increasing speed or slowing down (slowly), since we can rev to 9k they will hav to be shifting up or down all the time just to follow you. They will get tired of it

I guess that works best maybe if you're in 4th or maybe 3rd? Also a lot of these punks drive automatics and well I also must admit the only time I ever found myself doing stupid stuff aka street racing was when I was back from work cross-state in a rental. Not sure I'd ever do it in the 8. Makes it even worse when you do it in a car you don't know though.

Once, when I was heading up to my favorite twisty area, I had a yellow Lancer OZ Rally come up behind me and start seriously tailgating me. Now being the area was twisty and the road isn't exactly all that wide, I went through it at my normal pace and speed, which is generally no more than 50 mph. The idiot behind me probably wanted to do 60+, and since I wasn't pushing it, he kept up with me rather easily. But what really threw me a bone was after we got through the twisty sections and got into a straight, HE GOES AND PASSES ME! Over a double yellow line on a narrow road! At that point I knew that this was a serious punk behind me and that I wanted no part of such idiocy, so I let him do his thing. I'm sure he had fun bragging about his kill at the Lancer forums.

What's funny though is not too long later, I saw him again around town...and the entire right side of his car was severely scraped up. Looked exactly as though he had taken a curve entirely too fast and ran his car up against a guard rail. Can't say he didn't have that coming, that's for sure.

That driver definitely had speed and slight abilities... however, really lacked "TALENT"!

Fools like him deserves all those scrape marks. That mistake is definitely a learning experience for him.

Perhaps next time, consider this... put your hazard lights on, pull to the side and slow down for him to safely pass you. Then from behind just keep up with him and observe how that particular car handles around those twisties. It's good to know where you stand or how well your RX8 benchmarks with different cars. At least you can see where his strenghts and weaknesses are (driver and car). It's just me. You'll definitely pick out the good drivers out there. I find it amusing. You also give him the impression you are courteous or just weak!

Better safe than sorry. Afterall RX8s have great brakes.

The best thing is to rev your engine and make them think that you are going to race and then drive away slowly from the lights while they squeel and race away. It makes them look like idiots.

Or sometime what I do, is to drive even slower (making sure they don't rear end you!)....that would **** them off even more... In fact, you can probably see them cursing at your from your rear mirror...

WOW!!! Some of you sound like Kia Rio owners getting bullied at every stop light. You have a sports car....act like it!!! I am not saying that you have to race someone for pinks or anything....but a little 0-60 competition between lights is hardly dangerous.

I love all the people that say to 'take it to the track'. I for one purchased my car for driving on the street...not at the track. I have been very happy with my straight-line performance and usually entertain any worthy match-ups at the stop lights. I am in no way a dangerous street racer that needs to be flamed here in this thread....so don't bother. I just like to DRIVE the SPORTS CAR I purchased. Some of you sound like that is evil or something.

Naw, It depends on the driver. I have alittle fun too at stoplights but we can't talk about our accomplishments here. kill is a 4 letter word on this forum.

Elara won't allow it
