Why doesn't Mazda make a 20B/13B Direct Injection Renesis?

Cool.
I didn't bother searching because you were already replying to my questions so I thought it quicker to just ask you. Didn't kno it'd cause such a prob. Ooooppss!

I wish people who tell others to search for something (eg 3 rotor renesis) would try the search themselves sometimes. The search feature here is the single weakest aspect of this site. It's hard to find crap to begin with, throw "renesis" in there and you'll get hits in probably 50% of the non lounge threads to date.
So instead of screaming "search newb" all the time, how 'bout we make the search feature somewhat useful first. The only time I really effectively use the search is when I know which thread I'm looking for but can't seem to find it. Other than that, finding what you're looking for is only marginally quicker than just clicking through the threads manually.
btw here's the search for "3 rotor renesis." Tell me how useful any of those links are...particularly if you haven't read any of those threads before.

I see 3 threads on the first page that indicate by title they are about a 3 rotor renesis. 2 are 2 pages long, containing little/no pertinent info, and one is from Jun, 2003...and 2 pages long, containing little/no pertinent info.

uggh i was having a fun day before encountering this. it was not a grammatical error. not that i dont make them and i sure as hell make plenty of typing errors for 10 people. but saying "find a yamaguchi book" instead of THE implied two things- that there is more than one book by mr yamaguchi and that one of them contains information about the subject of my reply which is the renesis. there is no grammatical error only your failing to understand the inference. your attempt to highlight my "minor grammatical error" is simply an attempt to throw the onus onto me instead of your inability to comprehend the inference.
i answer all sort sof questions all day long. but i dont give in depth lectures on engineering rotaries. rotarygod, wakeech, mazda manic and others i am failing to name already have done lengthy posts so i feel no need to duplicate. you'll find the posts. happy reading

That's a good point. There are a huge number of posts archived. Even if you devise decent search terms many subjects are frequently referred to in passing. And even when discussed in-depth there are often several candidate threads and often some of those are without a definitive answer. Not a slam on the site, just a result of so much discussion. You or I may remember a thread where something was discovered or explained *at last*, but for a newb to find the one or two "expert" posts in that mountain is a daunting task. And harder for a 2006 newb than a 2003 newb, for sure.

I saw those threads. The info contained within, while interesting, doesn't pertain to the OP's question.
I'm just saying that telling someone to search, is a whole lot easier than actually searching and finding an answer. For someone who hasn't read any of those threads, finding one that answers the question is improbable. I've read 90% of those threads before, so I have an advantage and I can't find anything. Lots of interesting reading, sure, but not the answer. The search feature needs work, and lots of it.
I know it is frustrating to see the same questions again and again, but just pushing people off on a decrepit search function is laziness. If we know which thread the info is contained in, we could do a quick search for that thread and post a link. I do it more often than not, and it takes little time, but I think most would rather let someone else waste a lot of time vice wasting a small amount of there own time. Maybe it's human nature. Maybe it's the decline of civilization. Whatever it is, it makes me mad sometimes.
And I apologize for hijacking the thread, but I don't know the answer to your question, nor have I seen a definative reason for no 3 rotor Renesis, other than maybe fuel economy.

It will probably come... in a few years. 3 Rotor, direct injection or however they achieve 300+ HP.
Well I'm only in college and it will take me a good deal of time to save up for a car. Not as lucky as the other guy who got an RX-8 for Christmas Present (bastard! lol)

Of course, custom e-shaft, manifolds, etc. More cost effective to source a 20b. If you were to peripheral port it (both intake and exhaust), it would be easier as you wouldn't need two different intermediate housings.

here its christmas so im doing some of the searching. first here is one of my old posts about the increased power of the mazdspeed edition.
and here is a post of wakeech's from 2003 which is nearly identical in spirit to this thread- that's comedy he has some links to other threads.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...+rotor+renesis
the article in road and track about the mazdaspeed rx-8 mentions that it just came out of the shop from getting power tweaks. they mention an T increase to about 165 i think. they said it was mainly from tweaking the intake manifold and a slightly different exhaust.

Btw this 38 year old Mercedes Benz rotary engine has 3 rotors and direct fuel injection:

Geez! If this thread is any indication, perhpas it helps explain why there isn't already a direct injection renesis. Hope Mazda's engineers don't squabble so much when they discuss these issues.
Oh, I'm a total newb BTW so flame away--I can take it!
