That's pretty much my story, too (except for a 1971 VW Type 3 bought while I was a troop in Germany), except that the wife's 2001 Miata really broke the chain of functional, crappy cars. Of course, Mazda USA got my number from that one--and the pre-release brochures about the RX-8 were, by themselves, entrancing.

First new car for me as well. 3 pick up trucks all bought w/at least 30k, and one beater Capri way, way back. The switch from a 200k Ranger to my8 has been invigorating. Hope it does the same for you Endor!
