I had an SRT-4 trying to race me today... The road I take to and from campus has a few fun curves so I usually redline it in second after the light and then take the corners at a leisurely but somewhat quick pace of 60-65 mph. Today, there happened to be an SRT-4 in the lane next to me (which I probably should have noticed beforehand). So I take off at a regular pace, shift to second at about 4.5k rpm then redline through second and end up at about 65 mph. The SRT-4 started stepping on it when I was about halfway through second and by the time I'm out of second, he passes me (now in 6th gear). Now comes the curve... he was probably going 70-75 at the curve (curves to the left) when his back end starts to slide a bit to the right and he corrects a bit much causing it to go the other way a bit... well, somehow this guy gets lucky and sorts it out without crashing. After that, he kept going at a similar pace, but slowed down enough to not repeat his previous mistake. I "caught up to him" rather easily but I wasn't pushing it by any means and I really didnt want to make him think it was a challenge and have him do something stupid again so I just stayed a little behind him. Once we got to the one stop sign on that road, he waited a little so I'd line up next to him and then takes off again.

i agree with allot of you and the OP....my situation is my cars looks give people the perception that it is fast (fat staggered wheels, slammed, smoked tail lights...) i admit, sometimes when i look at my car i think it looks faster than it really is too...and looking around on here allot have very nicely modded cars....cant really blame people for thinking we are runnin below 14 flat.
i tend to get a nice mix of people who try to race (which i may admit i play along sometimes) and honestly my win lose record is about even. We have nice cars but for the most part they arent as quick as their looks portray them to be.
And by todays standards i think our cars are slow. I get left behind by my friends accord coupe numerous times. my saving grace is the cornering. i can hit this road by my house hitting turns doing close to 60 and he can barely keep his car on the ground doing 45.
also the high revving gives the perception we are trying to race...i kept my car in 3rd today a lil above 6k cause i was doing some lane changes...after i passed this gallant ralliart (which i had no idea existed) he clearly stomped the gas and threw the hazzards as if i was racing lol.

I'm in the car with my girlfriend on the beltway and a old *** buick starts getting closer and closer to me with his bright *** off brand cool blue colored headlights and when I shift up and he/she hears my midpipe and exhaust, I guess that was the sign for he/she to stomp on it and go as fast as possbile by me. I continue driving at the speed limit and meet back up with the same car when traffic starts to pick up and we are sitting still. He looks up and I started laughing in his face and rolled my windows up and he goes slower than the posted speed limit and looks to the left as if he did not want to get any more embarrassed by the looks of my car and suddenly there was a civic that had some swap and turbo and another turbo integra behind him and they happened to see what the guy in the buick just did and we both just laughed. So that made my day.

But i think the best is when i have my moms 2008 RAV4 AWD V6. Racing my friends 8s out of the pocket i take off way faster and pull slowly but steadily the whole time. And if we do a roll race i pull very slowly but nevertheless pull on the 8s the whole time. And when it went in for service idk how but we had a V6 camry loaner, well i know RX8s shine in the twisties but it was like shooting fish in a barrel, those new V6 camries are ridiculously fast

I often wonder if Mazda would have sold more cars if the 8 would have been a two seater with better handling and power than the RX7. I know they did their homework on research but I feel one thing you can't account for are people splurging on a good product. I guess we will never know but I believe it would have been one of the most popular and fastest cars out there. I love my 8 and don't consider it slow but my next car will be a two seater, hopefully a rotary. If they don't build this car in the next few years I'm moving on.

I'm asking just because I really want to know what kind of numbers are required in a Renesis turbo RX8 just to keep up with a 6.0 GTO, let alone, "hand them their ***". Your dyno from a dynapack (which reads higher than a dynojet) is saying 302whp. I don't think that's enough to beat a 107mph trapping car. I don't think you can pick up over 12 mph of trapspeed with a 100 whp in an RX8. I'm assuming you don't have a timeslip to back it up, but I could be wrong.
Where am I wrong?

Not trying to be a jerk, but, really? A 6.0 GTO? Hand them their ***? How badly are you handing them their ***? None of those cars stock gets even close to a stock GTO's trap speed.

Unless you meant a 5.7 GTO, yea a turboed RX8 can beat those no problem, but still not in a *** handing manner

Oh, I love the part about "wheelspin on the rollers". Yah, that's it. That bone crushing 326 lb-ft of torque. They strapping the car down with rubber bands? My god, I can't imagine how a stock GTO stays on the rollers. Why, stock with 345lb-ft of torque, it should just explode off the dyno every time. Good lord, how do those 700+ hp GTO's stay on a dynojet? They should be in orbit.
I'm guessing that 330whp could be enough to "walk" a GTO. I'm guessing that might translate to 109-110 mph trap. That's STILL not handing it its ***. You see what I mean?
So tell me, 05rex8allknowingofrx8, point me in the direction of a timeslip to prove he can decimate all those cars he mentioned.
