Q1:
Have a look at the pics. How bad does it look? Do you think this kind of damage when fixed would come up in a carfax?

Q2:
Should I have the dealer fix it or some other place?

I have never been in an accident before. Please advise how to proceed with this. I still cant believe this...right there in my driveway!!! WHY ?
I would have got a base ball bat and went at her back fender! JK...
It looks like more then $500 to me and that just sonds like more than one way for her to get out of it. I would say F*** it and get the work done by the car INC. CO. After all thats what we pay for. Now it is privet property so they might give you some crap for that. But dont give up and stay on them.
Now 9 out of 10 the dealer wont do the work. They send the cars off for all pain and most body work. So be on point and stay on top of whoever they send you RX-8 to. Dont let them do a 1/2 a$$ job. Let them know your a picky one.

Is it just me or the light or is the edge of the wheel damaged also. If it is you can be damn skippy that the damage will be over $500. I hope she knows that she will most likely get dropped by Geico. Good luck and hope it comes out lokking like new. Make sure Geico doesn't get cheap on ya!

my tps light came on this morning in MD too... I'm guessing its not related to the accident, and its just because it was f*(&ing cold this morning.

If you get it fixed at a dealer it will be on the Car Fax.
Looks like +500 in damages. Like everyone else said, DONT LET GEICO do the appraisal. Go get it appraised at the most expensive body shop possible.

I have an appointment with a reputable body shop in the area (thanks to TreknMazda) to have the appraisal/estimate BEFORE I go to the GEICO adjuster. However, I cant say for sure if the GEICO will honor the third party estimate...or should they? I wonder if on the 'GEICO day' I should let them do the estimate and then show them the third party appraisal or show it to them up front?

As far as TPS light turned off by itself in the afternoon so i guess it was definately the cold temperature this morning.
