wierd noise coming from under the dash

wierd noise coming from under the dash

i got an 05 rx8 and lately i have been hearing a wierd noise coming from under my dash, it sounds like a cd is changing, however i have an aftermarket head unit, has anyone else heard this noise coming from there 8?? if you did what was the problem?

seems to be when i just turn the car on/ or when idle

That CD changing sound when you turn on the car is the self check for the SSV and APV valves if im not mistaken

Are you sure its coming from the dash and not your steering wheel? Turn your car on and push up on the bottom of the steering wheel cover (where the M symbol is) just hard enough not to honk the horn. I had the same problem and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from at first. Let me know.

EDIT: This is a rattling sound.

could be a broken or stuck A/C flapper.

The intake valve check is run at shut down

Not to thread jack but I have this rattle... did you fix yours? if so, how?
