will 5w30 void your warrenty?

I think my rear rotor is losing its compression, 89k miles on original engine.

Its cuts out and spits real bad at WOT around 5k or so, then almost no power...as the rpms climb the other rotor kicks in and all my power is there.

Pretty sure the compression is going bye bye. Maybe my coils...what do you guys think?

but my real question is, will 5w30 void the warrenty?

how would they know it's 5w30? oil breaks down as you drive with it.

No, but do you have the proof you did have regular oil changes during those 89,000 miles??

I have the receipts of the oil and filters ive bought everytime ive changed my oil. They will see that it reads, 5w30 royal purple and mobil1 filter.

Yeah, ive been thinking its probably my coils, i know the plugs are prone to fouling quickly, though they have about 8k miles on them. I am running a full exhaust so the A/F mixture is alot more rich...I can see that happening.

I know getting ignition wires about 8k miles ago really woke the car up in top end. Im wondering the reason of that is I was helping my coils make a better current.

the motor has been making a thumping knocking noise when its really cold as well but goes away after about 10 mins of driving. I think its my exhaust, which im taking off tmw.

5w30 royal purple
The Royal Purple part can void your warranty, depending on the dealer.

using synthetic some dealer can avoid warranty. before I took the car for oil changes, I specifically asked what oil can I use, they told me anything 5w20 or 5w30 but synthetic.

I see I see. Well in that case, cross my fingers and ill check my plugs out, hopefully their fouled, if not I hope its my coils. Which im surprised I havnt replaced them by now.

But if it is a bad motor, hopefully they wont bring up oil in the situation.

but like Razz1 said, coils and plugs, the way the motor acts, it makes complete sense because when the other rotor kicked in and I had full power, I actually had full power...I mean the power is there when it wanted to come on. Because compression lose would result in a permanent power lose...like, the power wouldnt just come back like that, its either there or it isnt.

My absolute best guess on this issue with running test on it, is the coils.

Do you get a CEL blinking when this issue occurs?

Funny thing about rotaries is that they seem to run better just before they die. Yours runs like crap so I would say your engine is OK.
I would replace the ignition coils/wires/plugs. They would more likely be the culprit rather than low compression.

Bad idle is a sign of low compression
The symptoms you describe don't sound like compression
So go with the advice above

my idle is perfect, the other day it wanted to act up for a few minutes though but its never done that sense. And yes it ran very strong the other day, I was like, damn, that was pulling me in the seat...

but other than the spitting and cutting out while im trying to hammer on it, its strong when both rotors are acting right. No power lose.

Now this isnt the first time its spit and cutted out...but its never been this bad though.

I have a strong feeling its my coils, which i can get for like what 45 bucks a peice, so ill be ordering some probably today.

It dosnt have trobble starting or any other symptom that the compression is low either.

if you can afford them, buy these.

http://blackhaloracing.com/products-...gine/ignition/

These will never need to be replaced because they don't go bad. If you buy Mazda OEM ones they will go bad, its just a matter of time.

Also i have hear that when the coils start to go that you slowly loose power and you wont notice it. When new coils are installed your car will feel very different.

Oh and the ones you posted are single coils. You need 4 of them and wires which will bring you to $300. for $200 more you can get ones that never go out. Get new plugs too. BHR sells them with the coils for $60 which is pretty cheap compared to buying them elsewhere.
