Winning Blue or Lightning Yellow?
#27
Just to get an even better frame of reference from people who have seen the blue, I currently own a VW Jetta in Lagoon Blue which is a medium metallic blue leaning slightly towards the lighter side. Can anyone tell me if this color is pretty close to the Winning Blue? For comparison, the pic of the Winning Blue at the top of the forum seems virtually identical to my Jetta
Not that I'm going to change my color choice or anything, just wanted to get an idea up front about the color in person.
Not my car, but here is a picture for reference.....

I saw the Winning Blue RX-8 again today at the Dallas Rev-It-Up, but this time it was parked very close to a blue Protege, and I can report that the Winning Blue is a little lighter than the Protege blue. Hopefully that helps those who have not had a chance to see it in person.

P.S. THANKS for those pics and the movies...I've been showing them to everyone and saying that it's the car I'm getting :D.

I would get blue. I think yellow is one of those colors that is flashy on a new model car, but give it a few years and it'll look really dated (same goes for the orange color that Nissan is using). Kinda like the teal cars of a few years back. Also I saw a article and yellow was listed as one of those harder colors for resale (which I think has to do with what I said before about dated).

It's hard to tell from a photo, but that looks pretty close. The Winning Blue is perhaps just a tad brighter.

So, how close to how you saw it at the show are those pictures? If it looks like that, I'll be very happy.

The color in the pics is fairly close, but I think the closest match is actually the color in the second short mpg.

It looks completely different because the sun angle is from the opposite direction; look at the direction of the shadows.
From a photographer's perspective, the picture I posted would be considered "proper subject lighting". The one you posted would be considered stylistic lighting.
The images from the Japaneese website are the finest I've seen. I think they best represent what the car will look like in direct sunlight - bright yellow with a pinch of mustard to it.

Ps. If you want to be exact as possible. The Japanese system of color requires computer monitors to have their white-point set to 9300K. If your computer monitor has that option I would set it to that value to get an as exact match.

so i actually really like the blue color on the x-men car. i think that'd been a cooler blue, or nice addition to winning blue. they called it "mutant blue." it seems more purplish and darker. so, that's not the same color as winning blue right?
but nevertheless, winning blue is growing on me more and more after seeing more pictures of it, especially pictures at shows. but if it came down to the choice i think i'd still pick the yellow. it's becoming a tougher and tougher choice tho :D
