Wish list for 2005 RX-8

I want the RX to be available in the states in bright white in 2005, with an automatic tranny that can handle more than 7500rpm/more than 197hp (I won't be the only driver and the automatic is a required compromise), and a mini-oil injection system to the apex seals so it doesn't sneak oil from out of the engine's oil, and put that to even better use with some special additives in that rotary piston oil bleeder . . . and a nice fat rebate, like what's going on right now, when I'm ready to buy

I'd just like to see Mazdaspeed body parts installed from the factory. No need to buy two front ends and two sets of side skirts. :D

It will never happen. Oh well.

The transmission problem could be solved with an SMC, there is U$1,500.00 of dealer money right now that you can use to negotiate with and there will be a MazdaSpeed version next year with the body kit and a few other options from the factory...

Rebates in South Florida on RX-8 as of March 22 according to edmonds.com:$1000 if you haven't bought a new Mazda, Ford, Lincoln or Mercury in the past 4 (four) years - and - $500 college graduate rebate (what is with this rebate? Do high school grads get a $250 rebate?) :-)

Hmm, my wish list would be a GT package without a sunroof option for the 2005 models.

Unhappy

$1000 is only for select group of customers who receive a card in the mail. If you don't have the certificate, you don't get the cash.

That's scheduled for the 2006 model - a 5 speed auto that will handle the revs and power of the Hi-Power version of the Renesis. Also scheduled for 2006 is a 6 speed SMG trans.

You've got that right now - the RX-8 6 speed trans is made by Aisin, who also make the 6 speed trans for the S2K.

Got that already! (Well, in Canada anyway... )

Interesting, I didn't know that. However, the trans for the S2K is noticeably more precise and a tad shorter.

Do you know what the difference is between the two?

How about a speed sensitive DSC switch? I like to have it off around town and low speeds then forget to turn it back on for the freeway when it would be nice to have. I would like to be able to "dial in" the cut off speed for say around 50 mph and less would be no DSC and above 50 DSC turns back on. Default could be same as now with it on all the time, speed sensitive or fully disabled by different switch settings.

I second the GT witout a sunroof! I would like one with a little more mid range also if they could engineer that like they did to the new s2k engine. I second that s2k tranny as well, but I might want something that can handle a little bit more power due to addons. Don't know how much the s2k tranny can handle, but it might be enough.

the option to buy leather seats without paying 4000 dollars for the GT package. Also the back seats to dip down a little more so tall people can fit better. And one last thing, a little lever like in the 330Ci (and most 2 doors) so you can lean the front seat up to help the back seat guys get in/out better, real hard to get in/out on the 8 right?

Realistic wish: How about a bigger gas tank?

Unrealistic wish: A dial to determine at what RPMs the second and third ports open. If I want more torque, I just set the dial to have the 2nd and 3rd ports open at lower RPMS. If I want more fuel economy, I set the ports to open later.

i thought that's the whole point of the rear doors, so you don't have to move the front seat at all to get in/out of the rear seats?

Yea that is, but they don't really work that well. It's hard for people to get in and out, especially girls. I think that extra feature would make it just that much easier.

RX-8 320

I'd like to see a 2.0 litre 3-rotor version. I guess it would generate something like 300-320hp and 210-220 lb/ft of torque.

Niiiiice. :D

Just think of the gas milage though.

The passenger seat does have a flip lever AND a strap to pull when seated in the back seat to flip the front seat forward.

I haven't seen any problems with people getting in or out of the back seat - my passenger seat flip function has never been used!

Regards,
Gordon
