Wish me luck - first service appt
Taking my 8 in this afternoon for my first service appt. The idiots sold it to me without doing the fuel tank recall, so while it's in I figured I would get the oil changed and have the sqeaky breaks fixed. I just hope they don't try to blame the brakes on the painted hubs / calipers.....
Anyway, wish me luck.
edit: I can't believe I misspelled brakes....

should be a non-issue. i seem to recall reading that some dealers painted the hubs/calipers when asked to.
where are you taking it? there are a few good dealerships for service, jim ellis of marietta and mazda of roswell (who i use). from everythign i've heard, i'd stay far away from rick case mazda. there was stone mountain mazda, who's sales/admin sucked, but their service was really good, but that dealership has closed.

Taking it to Jim Ellis on Peachtree Industrial - since that's where I bought it and I live close by. I haven't heard anything about thier service dept at all, so we'll have to see. If I have to go to Mazda of Roswell I will, but it would be nice to have a dealership closer.

but if you ever want to go to mazda of roswell, they are about 1/3 mile north of andretti speed labs.

depending on the circumstances, you might not be without your car at all. when i took my car in (first thing in the morning), i got the lower control arm recall, gas tank recall, and battery replaced about an hour.
recalls with oil change should only take 1hr to 1.5 hours, depending on their workload.

Dropped it off (Appt is for tomorrow, but I have to be at work at 7:30am, and it would take me probably 45 mins to get there from the dealership). They were out of loaners so I had to get an enterprise rental They gave me a neon..... omg do I hate neons. I just just talking with my wife the other day about how much I hate neons....
Now I have to drive one through downtown traffic
At least it's only for the day.

And just to rub in the fact that I'm in a neon, I get stuck behind a blue 8 on the way in to work this morning. I never see any other 8s in the morning, except of course this morning when I don't have mine.
Ah well, at least my driving time in the neon is halfway over.

I know how you feel Asmoran, I just dropped off my 8 today so I can get the fuel tank worked on as well. I just bought the car about a month ago, and I was also suprised that they didn't take care of the fuel tank recall before I bought it. Also, my brakes were squeeking too so I had them take a look at it as well. Well at least they gave you a neon to drive thru traffic to work, enterprise gave me a ford minivan to commute to work.

Man, I wouldn't have taken the minivan I would have begged for something else!
Anyways, they called just before lunch and said "Yeah, the brakes do sqeak a bit. Can't do anything about it though. We did everything else for ya though."
So I said "Here's the TSB number - fix the brakes"
They said "We'll look into it"
Just call a call back from them - they've replaced the pads. Sure felt like pulling teeth though.
