Wish they made the exhaust tips larger.....
I was walking towards my car in a parking lot today, and from behind it's one of the best looking cars in the world. It really does look like an exotic, and I think it looks better than C5 corvettes, mustangs, etc.
The one thing that I think tells it's not insanely powerful is the size of the exhaust. The pipes are so small, they look like peashooters. It really takes away from the "exotic" look of car, and I think the look says "all flash and no dash".
The 350Z, in comparison, looks like it has a TON of power due to the size of the exhaust alone. 3" pipes coming out the back let people know it has *****.
Anyone else feel the same way? I'm definitely going to upgrade my exhaust as soon as possible (I've gotten used to the sound, and I would like it to be a little throatier).

The base tips are about 2.5" and do look very weak. I have had a MS exhaust which uses 3.5" tips and I presently have a RaceBeat with 4" tips both make a world of difference in the looks. I think the 3.5" are the best fit. The down side is these are $600 systems.
I have seen one member who bought some megaflow 3.5" tips and had a muffler shop cut off the stock tips and weld on the new tips. It looked great and was under $200 for the whole job.

Yup, I have been driving with the REV8 for several months now and it has a sound which Mazda should have made stock. It is throatier then stock but not loud at all. At idle it sounds stock but gets louder with rpm but never really roaring. A very nice suficticated sound no popping when decelerating. A easy system to live with that won't attract the attention of the cops.
On the other the MS is a beast, louder and much deeper sound. You know you have something as soon as you hit the accelerator. I always had the feeling that I had to keep my eyes out for cops but man that system sounded sweet. It is much harder to live with then the RB because of its loudness and mild droning at 2400 to 3500 rpm. You also get popping during declaration. Despite this the system made me feel like every trip was a day at the track.

I believe it is 93 db. The HKS legamax is actually quiter than the new Mazdaspeed exhaust. On a side note, after I got my oil changed done at the dealership, a few tech guys came out just to tell me that the HKS exhaust I had on my car was one of the nicest sounding and best looking they have seen (Compared to the Greedy, Mazdaspeed and Borla).
