Full coverage 500 deductible anything more is covered, however it's gonna be hell trying to get the city to pay for that 500. Geico said either let them call the city but its not a for sure thing and can't give me an exact date. Or I could contact the city on my day off and do some investigating on my own on who to talk to.

Why not let GEICO handle the whole thing? If the city is liable, GEICO will be dealing with them to recover whatever they pay you. They might keep a part of the deductable, but they'll do all the work.

Is the city liable? In most places a tree owner isn't liable if a tree limb falls in a neighbor's yard. Don't know if that applies to whole trees or just overhanging limbs, or if cities live under the same rules as property owners.

Who oens the tree? Their home owners insurance should cover the damage. There would be no deductible.

The city owns it. I'm waiting till Monday to see what the city can do.... I wrote an email to them, but i have a feeling they won't be so compliant. My luck. As weird as it sounds I searched on the Internet and this problem is more common then I thought...wish I could get more legal advice on how to walk away from this without any grief.

I do not see how the city would put of a fight to cover the repairs. It is clearly their fault.

Any chance they provided you notice to not park your car their because they were cutting a tree down?

Also how were the city workers? Did they apologize? Or were they indifferent to the damage they caused?

The tree fell on its own overnight, the city workers were professional despite their reputation of being careless. I was watching the whole time along with the rest of the neighborhood. The city should have inspected the tree, they don't just fall out of nowhere, it took some power lines with it too, good thing it happened at 2 in the morning instead of mid day

And what would have happened had that tree landed on your garage with your cars in it? You would be in worse shape than the OP.
