Worried about recall.

I am a bit worried hearing about these melting fuel tanks. I havent recieved a single word from mazda or dealer. I have an 04. Can I just take it in, or print something out and call the dealer to schedule this? I am also anxious to recieve R burn. Its been above 90 here lately and I have had to drive my car often, and I am just nervous about this whole situation. Thanx all!

Sinister, it's normal to feel nervous anytime you hear that your vehicle is being "recalled"

Don't panic though...

Mazda is just barely beginning to contact its owners because some dealerships were late in receiving some of the materials needed for Group 1. (which you are in since yours is '04)

I wouldn't bring it in quite yet. Hold off until you hear from Mazda then schedule an appointment.
The reason for that is lets give these techs some time to get used to performing this procedure (though its VERY basic) There's already a post on here about a dealership 'half-assing' the procedure.

I would call the dealer and ask if they are set to do it. Its not a big deal. I had mine in last week for some other work and they just did it while it was there.

i went to get my car inspected monday morning at the dealership & thats when they told me about it. They said they didnt even get too much info on it liek they usually do for recalls but i guess its pretty serious so they did the recall. i didnt even know about it. it takes awhile cause they have to take the gas tank out and everything. im sure if u called ur dealership they will schedule something for you regardless of getting a letter in the mail about the recall.

You might even consider waiting until Mazda notifies you of the front control arm recall so you only have to take it in once. I had mine in this week for an unrelated issue and my dealer still hadn't received the parts necessary to take care of the excessive heat related recall. They simply repaired my taillight and sent me on my merry way.

I just got my car back from the dealer yesterday. When i asked about the recalls, they didn't even know what the hell I was talking about, let alone having a fix for it. They told me to wait until I receive a letter from Mazda. I really wanted the R-flash too, but I think I only got the P since I complained about my AC cutting off.

for more info about the recalls please see the issues and problems section. im closing this thread. need to keep the info in one easy to find place instead of spread thru a bunch of different threads. also you can check the tsb sticky with the link to rosnthal mazda's page of tsb and recall info for the actual documents
