Would you buy an RX8 with a 4cyl?

basically, saying that its still an rx8 is off.. Its a miata with an rx8 body so maybe its a M-x8?
I dont see how you justify spending thousands on an engine swap to gain about 5 miles to the gallon and just to keep the rx8 body. If your going to do a motor swap for gas mileage get something thats worthwhile or just suck it up, keep the rx8 for what it is , and get a motorcycle or ride the bus.

No. It would not be an RX-car. It be what? an MX-8?
accodring to the Honda specs, the S2k is 1l/100km better than the rx-8 in the city. I hardly call it better mileage and wouldn't go for it just because of that. Considering the 8 is much heavier than the S2k, I am surprised the difference is so small. Don't bother with the anecdotes about who's who and their momma is getting this or that mpg ok.

Blasphemy.
But let's be honest. It's not WHAT you drive, it's how you drive it. If you're constantly putting the pedal to the metal, what do you expect aside from 11mpg? Drive smart, and maybe you'll get more MPG.
I know that I can get 19mpg in the city if I drove like a grandma. But what's the point? I didn't pay for this sports car to drive it like a Civic.

Would I buy a Mazda with a 4-cylinder? Heck yeah, I drive it 5 days a week. Would I give up the RX-8's smoothness and handling just to have the same body with better MPG? Very doubtful.
