wow someone help please
Ok heres the whole ordeal here... i bought my car on friday drove it off the lot with a set of keys where the remote is seperate and the key is just an ordinary key... there was a flip key where the remote and the key is all one unit at the dealer waiting for me they just needed to find it... i went and got it today and i had it in my pocket when im driving home... when i get home i use the new flip key (the one where the remote and key is one unit) to lock my car... and it locked like normal but when i went back out to get in it....the door will not open... i can hear the door unlock but the handle will not engage the opening mechanism from inside or outside of the car
so now i have this beautiful car but i have to crawl out of the passenger side because that door actually does open
of course the dealer told me to go pound sand...
someone help please!!!

Year and mileage? You have a 5yr/50K mile bumper to bumper warranty that is automatically transferable. If it's used did the dealer give you some kind of 60 day warranty from them as well or was it totally "as is?"

If you hear it unlock, then it probably isn't the key, but the actual handle mechanism in the door. Make sure that the drivers side is actually unlocking. Look through the passenger side window and confirm that the manual lock pops up. If it does then it is just the door handle assembly, possibly a broken cable or something like that.
If you can find a way to open that door, the removal of the door panel isn't very hard. From there you should be able to see what the problem is. The hard part for you is probably going to be getting that door open in the first place.

This is how to get the rattles out of your door (but also what your looking for). Polak did a great job describing how to take your door off. I'm not too mechanic saavy & i've taken both doors off.

OK, here's something to look into. I was told, and i could be wrong, that any safety issue must be repaired if the car is sold thru a dealership. I would say not being able to open your door and get out of your car in an accident would be a safety issue. If you were to end up in a river or lake and the power windows shorted you'd be in a heep o' trouble boy!

I took my car into midas today.. i take my cars there for everything... they looked at it for 4 hours and could not find anything that could lead to why the door wont open... they put a wedge between the door and the panel so that you could see the cords that pull the hinge to detatch it and it was working! No idea why the door wont open... i finally lost it and called Nissan Norths district office (thats the dealership i bought the car at) and i said hey im not trying to be a jerk but ive had this for 3 days... they said they didnt know why the dealership turned me down in the first place? oh well.. i take it in tomorrow ill keep everyone posted!!

^^Love it!
To the OP: Nice work on calling the district office and providing a constructive complaint. You did the right thing and now it sounds like you're getting results. CAll the district office again at the dealership if they give you a hard time. An hour or 2 of labor to figure out what's wrong to make a happy customer should be a no brainer.
