Sorry about your car man, but at least it seems like you won't have to pay out of pocket for this. Considering the locale I'm not even surprised. I mean it is NYC! The likelihood of a car getting messed up in that city is about the same as the likelihood of the sun rising tomorrow. If I lived in NYC, I wouldn't drive any car that I liked, that place simply hates cars.

yeah the aftermarket stuff is bs wtf so you cant mod a car now what the hell ... i have farmers and theyre not that expensive (im 21) and all i need to do is declare with invoice and pics any mods to the car (stereo exhaust intake springs etc etc) and in case the car gets stolen or wrecked they pay me for the stuff too ...
But in this case, I heard the other guy is Geico as well, so lets hope that this will be faster.
I have to get the insurance report from cops to get the info, but judging from how fast and efficient they work ... I would say I gotta wait at least another 3-4 days or a week b4 I can get it (and I need to pay 10 bux for a report too)

Let time I'm in NYC, probably two weeks from now, let's meet up. Would be nice to talk to another rotorhead while I'm doing my time on the East Coast.

I've had more than one person back into me while I was solid on the horn and then they claim they didn't see me. I think some people just learn to ignore horns and I think in NYC this is probably more common since NYC drivers tend to honk at the slightest provocation.

but not even sure if my 8 would be ready by then ... cuz all these "Geico does not cover aftermarket parts" BS ... The Front probably Sooner since the other guy has Geico too and the Cops are side with me. lets hope for the best.
the rear ... *sigh*

If you're claiming the insurance of the other guy, it doesn't matter if your parts are aftermarket or not. Insurance might not cover aftermarket parts, but only on the insurance carrier's car.

keep us posted with what unfolds. that is a really shitty thing to have happen. perhaps another reason i don't live in NY. i hate the traffic. drove an RX-7 i just bought home from Armonk NY once. gridlocked for 3hrs. i like living away from the city. lots of traffic=stupid non caring drivers.

My first MS Bumper got pwned by NYC shitty roads, Paid out of pocket for 2nd one, then it got pwned by this Pathfinder ...
The MS lower rear bumper got pwned by some moron car service guy ...
MS side skirt ... got pwned by shitty NYC roads ... how ? ... Its so uneven that the side of roads are ... ahh whatever. Didnt bother to get another one yet. I left it as is hanging 1/2 way.
ITs just sad that the 5% of the people like me, gotta pay for those 95% moron's mistakes.
if the other party's insurance is really Geico that will make this whole thing a lot easier. but if its not ... I might have to suck it up and pay for it "first" then wait for god knows how long before Geico can recover it for me ...

I ask myself many many times the same question "how did these blind fuxks got their licenses in the first place?"

Aftermarket parts should be covered. However, you have to inform the insurance agency of the parts you bought that are such so they can make note and records of it. If you don't then they most likely will not cover it.
One thing I still don't get is a few groups say you still have to pay deductible in a no-fault accident or collision, wtf is that? I had a co-worker who saw a kid in an SUV back into his Audi A4 when he was parked and honked his horn like you did at him. He didn't wind up paying a cent as it was no-fault. I checked my State-Farm policy, still mentions deductible but I'm calling them up tomorrow to discuss this and get clarity out of it as well as double checking the aftermarket parts portion.

Lets say :
Party A - You
Party B - is the person that hits you
Lets say your policy has 100 bux deductible for collision
When B hits you, you're 99.99999% sure he will be "at fault", you will have 2 choices.
First - Lets say The damage will cost 1000 bucks to repair. you cant stand that extra hole "Party A" put on your car, you want to fix it asap. You will use your collision coverage, it will "treat the case as" you just crash your car into a wall and you made that hole yourself. Insurance will ask you to pay 100 bux, then the insurance will cover the rest (900). THEN the insurance will get all information from you about "Party B" including any police report, pictures, witness, etc, so they can go after "Party B" to try to "recover" the 900 bucks FIRST then your deductible. In many cases if "Party B" is "at fault", his insurance(assume he has insurance) will have no choice but to "suck it up" and pay everything, which means 1000 dollars and give it to your insurance company, your insurance is happy because they basically didnt lose anything, then they will give you back your Full amount of deductible.
The problem with the "First" example is that, you will get your deductible back ONLY if Party B is 100% "at fault" and you are "no fault. if the accident turns out to be "nobody's at fault", which means You're also responsible for the accident for "whatever reason", then depends on the damage on both parties, the "best" you might get is 50% of your deductible.
Option 2 : You got hit, it cost 1000 bux to fix, Hmm, you said to your self that you dont care about how your car looks, its a pos Civic anyway(lol), but you're not going to let "Party B" go for nothing. So you will take your repair estimate from a bodyshop or something, and take it directly to the other party's insurance company. This is a pretty painful option because "Party B"'s insurance will start playing games with you like, oh thats your estimate, not mine, we can repair it with this and that, it will look the same, blah blah blah blah blah, just want to get you **** and "forget about" the whole thing. Or sometimes they're just going to drag you by not returning calls/mails/whatever. Tons of stuff. Seriously speaking if you push them hard enough "eventually" you will get your money, only if "party B" is at fault tho.
if its a "no fault" accident, hohoho, they will drag you even longer, send their lawyers to play games with you, bring the thing up to the insurance court and others stuff, etc etc.
So yeah ... there you go.
Im 90% going to take Option A, that means I might have to pay everything out of my pocket first and get it back later ... but Im just waiting for my accident reports to come, as soon as it comes out, Im going to get Geico to pay me full amount. (cuz he has geico too, makes it easier)
most insurance company do NOT cover aftermarket parts, some even deny your policy if you bring the subject up. Some are cool with it as long as you pay a bit extra for them(Progressive is one of them)
Geico is a bit weird, before I got my car, I did ask them the same question, the answer I got was, they do NOT cover aftermarket parts, even if Im willing to pay a bit extra. Oh but now they start giving me **** like "oh you did not endorsed them before so we cannot cover them", what a load of bullshit.
Im with Geico 4 years, guess when its time to renew, its also the time to switch, even if I have to pay more. I cant take bullshit.

Grrr ...
Adjuster works differently ?
Last time when my rear got pwned (just 2-3 weeks ago), the adjuster said I just need to bring the invoice in and he will add it to the repair estimate then Geico will try to go after the other party, worst case scenario is I have to pay my deductible.
But this time, same place, different adjuster, he is probably a part time cuz the whole office is empty except him, he doesnt know what to do with aftermarket front, need to call up, not even sure if he did, I waited almost an hour there, then he come back and like oh Geico will only pay for stock parts right now, I would have to get the bill to the other guy's insurance to try to get it back, in the other words, I have to pay my deductible plus whatever the extra cost going to be for now. Thats utter bs to me.
Failed.
im seriously considering a switch to Progressive, Progressive doesnt have this aftermarket bullshit, and I dont have to drive-in to get an estimate, they will drive to my house. I can even add aftermarket parts to my policy from start. and both cost about the same.(progrssive might cost a little more, not by much)

Unfortunately, 95% of the population says the same thing, haha.
Sorry to joke in your time of grieving. Seriously though, that sucks. NYC city roads are neglected. You can tell as soon as you drive on a side street from nassau where the queens border is from the roads.

You can lose part of the deductable even if the other guy is 100% at fault. I once got hit while parked, the other guy stonewalled, and my insurance company at the time had to sue. I only got 1/3 of my deductable back. Reasoning was that they had to allow for the lawyer's 1/3 contingency fee, and they did the math in a creative way that left me out 2/3 of my deductable. I switched to GEICO, who said they did not do that kind of thing. They did try once (at least with honest arithmetic), but yelling at them worked.
I'd need to check, but I think my last renewal said that aftermarket parts are covered without having to declare them. That may just be in Virginia, though.

Cuz Im hearing difference stories all over Geico's employees. This one tells me I have to endorsed the aftermarket parts first before its covered. the other one is telling me I just have to send the invoice in.
Yes sir. They called me today about it, and see if Im going to use them to fix it or I go after the other guy's insurance on my own, I was like hold on now, u guys didnt even add my aftermarket rear into the estimate yet, how do u expect me to fix anything ? They have yet to get back to me.

Confirmed. GEICO after going through subrogation/litigation with the at fault drivers company will get your deductible back to you. Girl who hit me only had $10k property damage coverage (who the hell only has $10k coverage?) and total damage between mine and the car who hit her was about $22k. Even though both cars with damage exceeded her limits, the companies agreed to a split of her policy limits based on the cost of further litigation and of the money GEICO recovered they made sure I got my deductible back. Whole process took about 8 months.

Sorry to hear this...
Insurance? Everybody has to deal with that, but, your car got **** on by a garbage truck. You've had just about every panel ripped off of it in one way or another in a space of very little time.
So can I ask a question? Why do people WANT to live in New York? It's painful to hear about this stuff. I'd go ******* crazy after the first week of living there. Is it some sort masochistic thing? You've been beaten over the head so long that when it stops, you go "hey. what the hell? I need a good beating or I won't feel right."
What is the draw? So much additional crap and "overhead" you have to deal with in life...

Here's a pic of your 8 before the beat down night... I spotted you midtown once..
As for why live in New York City..... It's the center of the universe for food, fashion, financial, culture, and entertainment. NYC has it's problems but this is the best city in the world, 24 hours a day.
As for geico. As long as I tell them I have Volks they will still retain my policy and even cover them if they are damaged in an accident? Will they can a policy if you have an exhaust installed?
