WTH!? Mazda declined a compression check!!??

It's not luck it's the ablity to control consumer power by press. You guys need to organize and demand match of the warranty. Use media pressure. A simple formula needs to be realized by Mazda. This is web era, no more lies, no more hiding and if they want to make smack videos about "Crafstmanship" time to put up or shut up.

Guys - I don't know the details but they are now using some combination of compression check numbers and vacuum line numbers to determine if an engine is good or not. I've also read that the vacuum test is now done alone and sometimes instead of traditional compression checks.
They should DEFINITELY be doing one of those two tests though.

what should i say if they ask me what oil i use? cause their tech called me and had a series of questions that he asked me about the oil... didnt get "what grade of oil do you use" yet. lol

^ too late i told him that i do all the oil changes and unfortunately i paid with cash... but i had one receipt of the recent oil change which he wanted me to send him a copy of. but another prob is that i used 5w30 oil instead of mazda req. 5w20. think they will jump on my *** for that?

They may try but remember, no where in the manual does it say 5W-20 is required, only that it is recommended. If they wanted to void the warranty based on that the owners manual would have to say that it is required and may cause engine damage if you don't use it.

IF you'd bothered to keep your receipts for purchase of the oil/filter, and keep a simple dated and mileage log of the oil changes, you'd have no problems. For people who are worried about dealer warranty, I dont know why this is so hard to understand.
Look at it from the manufacturer's point of view. There is a large segment of the general population who will run a vehicle for 7-10k miles between oil changes, and when you mention it to them they will be like "oh.....is that bad??". Why should the manufacturer be liable for fuckups like that? As a business owner one thing I've learned is that many members of the public are twice as eager to defraud the business, as the shadiest business is eager to defraud the customer. Everybody wants something for nothing and wants you to 'stand behind your product" no matter how old it is or how it's been treated, because, you know, "the customer is always right".

^ holy ****!!! how the hell was i supposed to know that the engine was going to **** on me?! yea i didnt do my research before i bought the car and now im paying for it! AND WHERE THE HELL DOES IT SAY THAT IM SUPPOSED TO KEEP MY F* RECEIPTS?! mazda made a faulty engine, mazda needs to take responsibility. i take care of my car like no other. and if the mech is good then he wouldnt he be able to tell if the engine was taken care of or treated like ****?!
edit: and im not a ******* dipshit like most people that buy a car and expect the thing to run without any maintenance for 100k mile. what about the people like me that do take care of their car but dont have the info to prove that they do... did the "Manufacture" think of those people?!

Yes I am sure they did think of those kind of people, and you fall in the same line as people who didnt do an oil change at the proper time. You need receipts for everything in life when something goes wrong, the days of taking someones word as the truth are long gone as sad as it is to say.
I have only done a few oil changes myself but everytime I keep the receipt for the oil and the filter and write down my current mileage on it, because I dont plan on getting screwed by mazda if I ever do need a motor.

So you bought the car most prone to engine issues, in fact so much so that the manufacturer took action and extended their warranty to almost double what it originally was.
You knew you were in warranty and would be for some time to come. And, I assume, you wanted to be able to take advantage of that warranty should the need arise. But you failed to do what common sense would dictate to most reasonable people as being necessary to qualify for warranty...yet it is the manufacturer's fault?
I can't agree with that.
I'm not a dealership kind of guy. Even if I went out today and bought a brand new camaro or corvette, it would probably never see the dealership service bay in it's life. I've done all my own work on my vehicles for about the last 13 years. I usually do significant modifications that would void a manufacturer warranty anyway. As such, I've never concerned myself with keeping dedicated logs of maintenance. But, if I were worried about going to dealerships and staying under warranty, then I would, because it is common sense.

This is what happens when you slack off for years on clutch pedal and hassle people about reflashing etc.
Mazda needs to know you can't replace an engine then cut other corners. This is not logical, this will **** off customers, this will make them look bad in an aggressive market. Right now GM is killing on Camaro sales and there service is white glove. (trying to pressure mazda to fixing my clutch bracket 4 free lol).

okay i understand what you are saying RR, but i didnt buy the car at a mazda dealer and no one told me that i need to keep receipts of what i did to the car. i only owned the rx8 for 2 years and i just recently started to hold the receipts.

I build engines and there are several things that the purchaser has to do in order to keep his warranty, including a proper breakin, oil changes, abstinence from race activities, and in some circumstances part replacement of components that could contribute to a new engine dying quickly (thermostat, water pump, radiator, fans, oil cooler flush service, fuel system service, etc.). I dont dictate to them that they HAVE to do that stuff, only if they want ME to be responsible for how long the new engine lives. It's not MY fault if its neglected or abused and fails prematurely...its their decision to make.

well then wouldnt the internal parts of the engine show if its been taken care of or run on the same oil forever? hmmm. well the auto parts store that i go to, to buy my parts for the 8 told me that they have my back. they know me over there and they know that i have been having recent problems with the car and they know i buy oil, so they gave me their cards with names on it and said if needed i can use them as a reference. think mazda will look at me differently if i have them call the auto parts store? lol
