Which year 6MT rx8 should I buy?

Hi,

I have a buyer for my AT rx8 and I'm thinking about replacing it with a 6MT. Which year should I buy and are they all the same? flame suit is on. LOL

I would like to spend 12k-15k.

You should be able top get an '06-'07 for that kind of money. Start looking on Craigslist and Autotrader.com.

For 12,000-15,000 you could easily get an 06. Check the sticky for the year-by-year changes. Newer the better.

Or... I can look for an 04 with a new engine, for around 9k and spend the extra 5-6k for a turbo!!!

I just wanted to make sure that the 04-08 have the same motor and same HP. I'm asking because the 06 and 04 AT have different engine,hp, and tq.

if you want to turbo it, get a solid 04 without "new engine" the engines are always rebuilt failed engines. as long as you go for the manual, power is always the same. base don't have DSC is all.

I agree 06 07...

just because the reman engines are rebuilt from old "blown" motors doesn't mean they are bad....the prob with the 04's was not enough oil being injected via the OMP/no middle nozzle(lke the new OMP's) so the middle of the apex seal would wear which equal low compression/no start eventually...

if I was to turbo I would just find one with low miles whether it be a reman or a newer 8 with low mileage....but that' just my 2 cents

the thing is, you also need to find out if the remades was before or after mazda were doing it themselves.

thx for the info guys, My rx8 is sold. Now I'm in the market for a 6MT.

Off topic, I found two great deals on a MS6 and a 05 wrx (sti upgrade all around). I know they dont handle as well as our rx8's but they are pretty quick tho. yay or nay?

Anyone in texas selling a 06+ 6MT rx8? pm me.
Thanks

post in the gulf section, i think there are some ppl wanting to sell.

that being said, they are quick, but is very different from the feel of rx-8 and DEFINITELY different feel from grand touring RX-8

I feel like a traitor. I bought the wrx with 07 sti block upgrade, sti turbo upgrade, and fmic setup. The car caught my attention with the woosh sound and running 12.4 in a 1/4 mile.

The handling isnt comparable to the rx8 but I think the speed makes up for it.

Thanks for all the feedback.
