Yet more confirmation that the RX-8 was the right choice

This morning received a compliment from a driver in a late 1990's 911S4.

I dusted a red 911 around a two lane 90 degree turn and was all proud of myself. Anyway, I think he may have let me go to check out the car, as he pulled up next to me at the next light and motioned for me to roll down the window. He said he liked the car and asked how I liked it. I said "no complaints" and "the car is fun, but not as fun as yours." He responded that my car was way more fun than his... and then the light turned and we continued our commute.

How cool is that? I have never even received a derisive comment from a 911 driver, let alone a compliment. The guy in the Porsche was around 29 too.

Most people I've met with high dollar sportscars are very cool, they don't feel the need to put other cars down like so many other people. Hell I've even gotten into friendly arguments with some of them when they tried to tell me my car was faster... I'm not sure if it's because they know there's a chance it is if modded, they don't really know much about cars, or what I really suspect is that they're just being humble.

I tend to agree with ike. real car aficionados tend to appreciate each car for what they are worth as they tend not to have a complex as to whether they made the right 330/g35c/a4/evo/sti/s2k/rx8 decision. someone in a s500 or a 911 or the like will see the car in neutral light, and the rx8 looks great in neutral! (as do those others)

n. pl. a·fi·cio·na·dos
An enthusiastic admirer or follower; a fan.

I needed help pronouncing that one.

Car enthusiasts are just that - regardless of make.

twheeler - the opportunity you had has not been an experience yet. I have shared looks with a couple of 911 owners tho.

I had a guy in a BMW Z8 give me the thumbs up on the freeway last night. I was thinking "man, you could have 4 RX8s for the price of that", and then he promptly dusted me.

See that is very cool. I think most drivers of higher end cars (sports cars--not really SUV's and luxo crusiers) appreciate engineering at any price point.

That's what I've noticed. Those on motorcycles and sports cars notice the '8 way more than other drivers. I think they're attuned to it, and we're disregarded by others.

I've noticed that during weekdays at gas stations in affluent places (like in Pasadena off of Lake Ave), there are sometimes an unusual number of bmw's, audis, acuras, etc., pumping gas at the same time I am. Invariably, there are stares and friendly comments about the 8.
