LOL I sold the Jeep to get the car. I have a bike rack for it too. Actually does really well too, plus there is nothing like going from kayaking for 2:30 hours then jumping into the the nice luxury interior and driving home :p

I have seen 2 8's in my area with bike racks on them. I think it looks stupid, but if they are getting use out of it, more power to them. It's not like I have to drive around in it.

I do the same thing. Plus most of the good rivers are in the mountains where the twisties are. Nothing like making the most out of a mountain run!!

I usually carry 3 mountain bikes on my 8 at the same time...

Why is it so hard to imagine that the hardcore xtreme sport fanatic would also like driving the 8? Being athletic, fearless, and fast? Sounds a lot like the 8 doesn't it?

This car can do it all...

No! If only more people realized they don't really need an SUV or truck.

I've been looking for a rack to carry my bike on my 8. What rack is that whenson417? Alot of the places I like to drive my 8 are the same areas for riding the bike. Both are performance machines.

Mine is a Yakima system. I think you will need to buy the newer style clamps, atleast 48" bars, and the clips are a Q-6 I think. Not sure on the clips but I found all that I needed to buy on this forum so forgive me when I sound like NYCGPS and ask you to search. The only reason I am telling you to search is because my memory is bad and I do not want to lead you in the wrong direction. And if you do not have any luck finding it all here then the Yakima website has an awesome sizing program that will let you size it up along any accessories you will need.

Hey Swingblade, I see that you are in Ga so be sure to stop by www.garx8club.com for some local chat if you have not done so already. We'd love to have you over there as well.

Thanks for the info. I knew I was setting myself up for the "do the search". I was actually doing that waiting for a reply.
Do you have a fork clip or just clip the tires in?
I have some relatives in Dallas on what used to be Dragstrip road. New folks moving in made them change the name to something more civilized. Haven't been over to the GA club but will give it a try. Not many 8's in this part of GA. I'm real close to Tallahassee.

Great. More tree-huggers.

That's why I have the RX8 and three Jeeps. (All running and road worthy) One Jeep is for the blue kayak, the other is for the red.....

I go down that road every day. It is now called East Paulding and they shut down the drag strip and I heard that they are going to put a strip mall of some sort in.

I do get a lot of weird looks with it on top of the car. But as for the kayak itself, it is a playboat Pyrannha S6X 205.

Whenson417: East Paulding Drive huh, I liked Dragstrip Rd better. I thought the sound of those dragsters was like music on a Friday night, but not every one shares my taste. On your bike rack are you clamping in your fork or leaving the front wheel on? Might be less chance of scratches leaving the wheel on?

Just be careful not to dent the aluminum roof panel.

I thought for sure this was Truemagellen's car since he had been talking about getting a kayak but then I realized it didn't have clear corners.

I agree the car should be able to multi-task with all the extreme gear.

Functionality is king!

I don't have a bike so I really don't know which is the best way to do it. I only use my rack to hold my kayak.

OtaKurx - I think your yakima bars are set too far apart... Yakima recommends a bar spread of 28.5 inches. The front bar looks okay (set 8 inches behind window). Your Q towers should be positioned like in my picture.

BTW Sure Shot. No part of the yakima system touches the roof panel. It's completely safe.
