Your opinion: mods vs. coming recall

Hello,

Hate to add another thread on the recall business, however I have a question I havent seen posted yet.

My current major mods include a RP high flow CAT, and the throttle body bypass mod on my engine. Do you think these two things would "mess with" the test results, or make a Mazda dealer checking out my car snuff at my car and not want to do the check? Or the fact that I do run Royal Purple full synthetic 5w20? would they be able to detect I'm using a synthetic? and thus invalidate my ability to qualify for a new engine (if thats really necessary)

I havent had any problems in my 27K miles so far really but if there is a recall and test I want to make sure my car is running at the best it can, and if it means a new free engine, so be it.

Do you think the fact that I'm using a wet nitrous kit will disqualify me from this?

I would be it back to as stock as possable for this recall. They might be looking for any reason to void the motor if its gonna be a massive motor swap event like they think it could be.

Throttle by pass, no. Hi flow cat, yes. Part of the recall is testing the cat effiency. The recall can still be performed, but obviously your cat readings will be ignored.

Good question I had asked one of the guys yesterday about pulleys. More importantly if the engine is bad will they take the pulleys off and install them on the new engine.

Probably not is my thinking unless they don't come with them.

They might put the pulleys back for 1 reason.. They arent gonna replace the Alt and all that stuff, just the motor it's self.

Except I heard that some of the engines were dressed, meaning they have extra parts already on them. If that were the case why would they pull the pulleys off and put them on the new engine?

I'd think for cost reasons, but if they are gonna waste time/money... They are gonna keep your pulleys unless the guy doing the swap is nice.

It's days like this that I'm thankful I haven't even changed out the corner lights on my car. I'd put everything back to stock, it's not like those 2 mods are hard to reverse.

Ohhh that is a bit of work to change out.

I can swap the pulleys in no time at all compared to that.

Will install the stock cat to.

Do you guys think that the fact my car isn't an 8 will disqualify me from this recall?

If you read my mod list, and think that I am going back to stock, your crazy. I'm getting tested as is. Wish me luck, My tech says I have a strong motor, so I'm not that worried.

its a voluntary recall so you dont have to do it if you dont want to so if you lose your flywheel i guess its just your fault if you dont want to lose it then dont go in for the recall

I thought voluntary recall meant voluntary on Mazda's end. Mazda doesn't have to do the recall - they are doing so voluntarily.

We don't know this for a fact all that has been said is Mazda is voluntarily doing this recall meaning they were not forced to do this. It has not been said if it is a voluntary recall on the owners part.

I have a hunch that all of us that go in with heavy mods are gonna be told that we have "strong motors". It just seems easier for them then having to say, "no, you're not getting an engine due to ... being installed."

no wont happen- if you have a bad test result you will get a new motor. they are serious abotu this- no screwing around by the dealers allowed. they have egg on their face and want to clean it off and do so with improving the good will between them and the rotary buyers

Well, if you expect a rotary being installed in your saturn due to this recall, then that may be pushing it a bit

Flood it and have Mazda Roadside Assistance tow it in. That should slip it by.
