2007 Mazda RX-7
#26
The article that I read on the comback Rx-7 said that it would be roughly 2200lbs and be carring the same engine(Wankle) as the rx-8.
However the article that I seen was saying they were going to come out with it in 2006..
I to will be quits disapointed.. I have always Loved the rx-7s but I will FOREVER keep my 8 even when it is 20+y/o sitting on blocks..

Ford controls the cycle plan for Mazda vehicle programs. Mazda management proposes new projects to Ford management, but ultimately it's Ford's decision to approve or reject the program. With that said, there are only a few hundred people within Ford that know the cycle plan for vehicle programs. The cycle plan document is very secretive, and it when it prints, the owner's name is watermarked across it. You can imagine what happens to someone if he/she loses the document. Unless you are getting your information from a Ford exec or a cycle plan holder, I woudn't trust a word of it.
The other thing is that the media is aware of every planned 2006 model year vehicle that is new or significantly redesigned. By this time, manufacturers have several prototype vehicles built and testing, and a large engineering team working on the project. It is nearly impossible to keep a project of this scale secretive. Therefore, I guarantee there will not be a 2006 successor to the RX-7.
Even IF a successor to the RX-7 is in the cycle plan, it is always subject to change. It is very often the case that products are approved and planned, but get cancelled at the last minute via a high-level decision. For this reason, absolutely no one knows with 100% certainty that this vehicle will or will not go into production.

the 8 shoulda been a 7 anyways. Mazda owes us. For a new 7, i'd dump the 8 in a heartbeat. i love it, but i'm not in love with it. hell if an FD was reliable i'd be all over it like white on rice. Ford, if you're listening, we're waiting, rather impatiently

2006 Mazda RX-7
If the RX-8 is the success Mazda is banking on, a two-door RX-7 may follow for 2006. On the drawing board is a shortened, lighter car boasting 280-330 hp.
2007 Mazda RX-7
If the RX-8 is the success Mazda is banking on, there was hope a two-door RX-7 may follow for 2006. On the drawing board is a shortened, lighter car boasting 280-330 hp. A convertible model could have followed for 2007 to compete with the Nissan 350Z and squeeze more model variants from the RX-8 platform. However, latest insider info has this anticipated model killed.
otoh:
2007 Nissan Skyline GT-R
Nissan says the next Infiniti flagship might not be a Q45 sedan replacement, and hints that the Skyline GT-R supercar that appeared as a concept in '01 could be the next flagship. And now the bad news: the GT-R won't launch until calendar year 2007.
2007 Acura NSX
Ever since Honda's HSC (Honda Sports Concept) debuted in Tokyo (2003), we've been anxious to hear news about when it will enter production as the next-generation Acura NSX. The aggressive two-seater HSC is composed of carbon fiber panels over an all-aluminum unit body frame and uses a 300-plus horsepower mid-engine V-6 shifted via F1-style paddle shifter transmission. As always, Honda remains tight-lipped about the HSC and its production potential; Don't expect to see this halo vehicle anytime before late 2007.
